i understand absolutely no alcohol whatsoever with flagyl.

so if you have the flu like me, how long after stopping flagyl can you take flu stuff like cough syrup, nyquil, etc?

8 hours, 1 day or 2? it's got to get out of your system right?

There are several non-alcohol cough syrups on the market.

No one should be taking a cough syrup that contains alcohol, anyway. They should not even be on the market so you'll be better off with a child's cough syrup, anyway.

Mucinex DM (caplets - with guaifenesin and dextromethorphan ) can be a huge help. It both helps your body clear out the lungs while also suppressing coughs. Drink LOTS of water if you take this. Actually, drinking water helps the lungs more than anything.

Black Elderberry is excellent. Lomatium tincture, too, stops coughs for me. But, tinctures without alcohol, with glycerin instead.

Hope you feel better.

I've been on Flagyl for well over a year now, NO alcohol whatsoever. Not even mouthwash with alcohol.

I find that even red wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar and warm apple cider are very toxic to me.

Just be really careful.

Delsym is an alcohol free OTC cough med. It tastes nasty but it helps some.

Don't test it, it's not worth it. Not even mouthwash.

They use to give flagyl alchoholics because it makes them sick. upchuck
I tested that theory I could get away with it one day and if a second day I started wheezing.
I was on abxs a long time without beer around the seventh year it was holidays so i drank beer. I wouldnt recommend it.
I wheezed for a week.
