My son was prescribed zithromax suspension 250mg/5ml. The pharmacist reconstituted to 200mg/5ml and said to give him 6.25ml/day. This seems high to me for a 6yo, 43lb child. My daughter is 33lb and takes half of that for her lyme. I called the doc and could not get past the front office person who looked it up in the chart and said that is what he wants my son to take. I should have insisted on checking with the doctor.

Just wondering what dosage others have been prescribed for their kids? Does this seem the a usual dose for his weight?

Thanks

My 7 year old is 65 lbs.... He takes 250mg zithromax tablet every day. Plus, 300mg of Omnicef. I'm thankful that he learned how to swallow pills when he was 6, I don't have to deal with liquids anymore....

Mom to a 5 year old lymie....
Taking it one day at a time.

so if my son is on the equiv of 250 mg suspension, and he is only 43 lbs, doesn't that seem high?
