I am in need of feedback for my 21 yr old son. Has been treated since spring of '06 by a llmd, one of the best. He has shown great physical improvements, pain gone, able to exercise. Has always had a pretty clear cycle of herxing with clear times of improvement. We even thought that he might have been close to finished until last April when a challenge of zithro and mepron sent his brain to La La Land. He has been there ever since even through a number of changes in antibiotics. The latest, moxatag seemed to have the slightest bit of improvement for about a week and then back to Total La La land. He hasn't driven in months, he needs coaching to accomplish anything. This is perhaps the longest , hardest herxing ever or what??? We are seeing dr tomorrow. It has been a lonely 4 years for my son. He needs to find his brain enough to have some kind of life. I go back and forth: Stay the course, go back to square one, go off of everything??? What to do?

Wow. That is really rough!! Makes you wonder if he is just very sensitive to the mepron?

I'm not familiar with moxatag. Is it for babesia??

Has your dr considered clindamycin and quinine?

Moxatag is relatively new. It is a slow release amoxacillin. Clindamycin and quinine have not been mentioned, but I will check it out with dr. He did react strongly the first time he had mepron. I guess the assumption was that it wasn't time to end treatment because it raised such a flair.

Somehow I missed the line where the crystal ball was handed out. Does anyone have a spare?

I would not bother with clindamycin/quinine it is an extremely outdated protocol and much better and safer options are available now.

stopping treatment because of a flare= illogical. WHY! Keep going so you [shake] can kill the bacteria. Ugh.

Thank you Wild Condor, It was a restless night and I hoped on before leaving for the big Conn. drive. These last few months have seemed so persistently brain involved that my fears have overrun my logic.
