First, I am aware (now) that steriods and lyme are contraindicated.

I currently cannot stop taking them because I cannot walk without them. I intend to call an LLMD on Monday and make an appointment.

I have an appt. with my rhuematologist on Tuesday when I intend to discuss Burascano's guidelines and my plans to see a specialist. I also am going to try to get a doxy script out of him along with lower dose prednisone so I can attempt to ween off.

I want to also have him sign off for new labs from Imugen. This is the lab that originally did my tests in 2001 and returned a positive for lyme and babsia on the first test.

My question is, if I am taking 10 mg a day of prednisone will it cause incorrect test results?

I recently had my thyroid tested and that doctor told me my blood worked would be tainted because of the prednisone.

Has anyone else heard this?

I didn't know it would affect a thyroid test!! But a Western Blot for Lyme, I can see.

I thought it was because the steroids would greatly dampen the immune/antibody response. That would make fewer bands show up, and weaker bands to show up.. like IND's instead of positives.
