Would some of you suggest foods you eat that are good and acceptable for a Lyme Disease diet? My mother has been on the very restricted diet of no sugar, no fruit, no bread, no potatoes, no rice, no caffine, no beef, etc. She has lost far too much weight and is extremely frail now. What is good to eat? Please advise what you find helpful and good. Does anyone have any recipes to share or just a list of foods so that she doesn't continue losing weight? She's down to 106 and does not need to lose another ounce. Thanks!

Sweet potatoes should be okay, beef should be okay, though "free range" organic beef is the most nutritious with the least chemicals.
There is a type of bread you can get at health food stores called "Eziekiel bread" that is sometimes in the freezer section. It is made of sprouted whole grains, and should be okay. She can put organic butter on it.
What about scrambled eggs with cheese? Whole milk?
Does she not eat dairy?
I am not one to be extreme about any diets...I think the most important thing is that you keep your body strong with whole foods, and just don't consume a lot of white sugar and white bread.
I eat potatoes, just with fats like butter or whole milk, so that it's not pure carbs. It just depends who you ask.
If she is on antibiotics and takes Nystatin daily, that should help prevent yeast, so she could be more lenient with her diet. Unless yeast overgrowth is a major problem for her. It depends on the person. I can handle some carbs.

Hoosiers has some good ideas. Go easy on potatoes, but I think sweet potatoes are actually better if you are prone to yeast as with taking long term abx.
Can she add nuts to her diet? Try to avoid peanuts, but almonds, walnuts, and pecans would be OK.
Maybe some protein drinks too??
