My best friend was diagnosed with H1N1 2 days ago. Needless to say we have had a lot of contact prior to the diagnosis.

I have been finally been feeling quite good for the last 2 months after switching abx and my symptoms were really more or less gone. I had gone back to the gym, yoga, running treadmill, etc. Lyme was no longer in my mind every day.

But this week I have been noticing tingling and numbness again. Can it be possible that my defenses are diverted to fighting exposure to H1N1 and that has allowed lyme symptoms to break out? Recent bloodwork shows I have a low white cell count but lyme doc wasn't concerned.

I am also tired but I was just putting that down to Christmas shopping, more social events etc. I am scared that lyme is returning. I guess I should contact my lyme doc for his opinion.

My LLMD mentions that he notices his lyme patients get it worse and then afterward have an improvement in their lyme symptoms, speculating that something stimulates the immune system and gets things moving

Well if H1N1 improved lyme symptoms it might be worth getting it - have to find a bright side somewhere in this mess - LOL!!

I know a fever will make symptoms temporarily worse and then better.

Lyme does not like high body temperature. I think it may kill off some of it.

My wife's longest period of time without symptoms, prior to now, was after a high fever.

Yes, it's possible. Anything that taxes the immune system can allow borrelia to gain ground.

Funny you should mention this...

I've got some bad flu currently, H1N1 or not, it doesnt matter.

The "normal" flu is more deadly anyway...

Anyway, I have had a fever of 100' or more recently and although I am dreadfully sick and have been coughing up all kinds of stuff, I am feeling "different" and perhaps "some" better since having the elevated temp.

So flus possibly stimulating immune function thus resulting in lyme & co. clean-up is entirely plausible in my opinion.

This does not mean, however, that I think lymies should seek out a virus to contract. LOL

Best

Derek

Thank you! Well I woke up this morning with the room spinning and have neckache and terrible nausea - haven't had these symptoms in ages. So definitely something going on just not sure what yet.
