Valcyte is thought to be effective against HHV6, CMV, and EBV. In order for it to be effective, however, you need to complete a six month treatment without stopping once.

You need to be VERY CAREFUL while on Valcyte and get your blood checked (CBC & CMP) WEEKLY otherwise you can risk death.

For chronic fatigue, the EXPERIMENTAL (see Dr. Montoya's research: http://www.drpodell.org/chronic_fatigue_syndrome_hhv6.shtml) dosage is two 450mg tablets taken twice per day for three weeks. Then, one 450mg tablet twice per day for the remaining 6 months.

Please don't take the drug without supervision from a doctor.

--------------------
Lingering chronic symptoms: Fatigue, Derealization, Brain fog. Monthly fever with flu-like symptoms that last for weeks.
Lyme WB Bands Positive: 31, 41, 58, 66
HHV6, EBV, CMV, & Mycoplasma IGG positive.
Chronically Low CD4 count.

They may be needed, but you need a doc tracking your vitals.

My doc gave Valcyte to me for skin lesions that were resistent to Ivermectin, Nystatin, etc.

My husband wouldn't let me take it because it is so dangerous and we aren't familiar with anyone who takes it.

Can anyone attest to its' effectiveness towards helping lyme lesions (severe case of the itchy, tormenting kind that never heals)?

My 2 daughters put me in a Pysch hospital because I was itching so bad I was having anxiety which made everything worse + hubby put me in a local Pysch ward that was worse than the first.

The Pysch doctor's couldn't brainwash me to stop the itching, that reaction is ridgid in my brain, and the meds were unsuccessful, too.

My 2 daughters and husband put it off on my being sick for a long time. My husband even went so far as to convince my friends and family that it was impossible to get some of the stuff I was getting out of my pores so that justified me as crazy.

The boomerang will come back.

I took valcyte for 8 months.

Just have to go in for blood tests.

My neighbor has been on valcyte for over 1 year.

If you don't have a doc, how did you get a Rx for valcyte?

BTW, if you didn't have insurance.....the cost of one 60 pill bottle is around $4000.00. [Eek!]

I did have a type of herx on valcyte initially.

It wasn't too bad at all.

Hugs,

Geneal

Yikes! I was on this (generic) for about 5 months for herpes. No blood test before or during. Just kept getting it refilled. Also, no change good or bad while on it. Where does one pick up info on this? Online maybe?

Street, as far as trying something, I think it's a good idea to open a capsule or break a tablet that's ok to break open (not one that should remain whole) and try a small amount to see how you do and go up from there.
