My son was tested for the mystery bug about a year ago. Recently, he has developed absence seizures. We see a few spacing out episodes per day but his EEG indicated about 140 seizures in 44 hours. YIKES!
Anyone else with the mystery bug have seizures??? I wonder if the bug is causing them.

I went to 3 Neurologists before i got my Lyme test from my Nurse Practitioner. The Neuros were ducky about infections of any kind...i.e. i was never checked once for anything other than have numerous EEG's...outpatient and sleep-deprived, and normal. They wanted to throw me in for a 5-day hospital stay but i wasnt convinced as they werent convinced.
I was told i was having absence seizures and temporal lobe stuff too. They ran test after test, but I only had one spike in all of them...and alot of subharmonic dropouts--
Too many delta and theta waves...i was like a zombie and would almost pass out while talking, walking, everything.
I would ask some serious questions about the nature of his seizures. What kind of brain waves are going on, and how significant are the spikes?
Btw-i was on anti-epileptic drugs for a year, and they didnt do anything. For me, it was Lyme-related.
Hope you get some clarification!

I am so sorry to hear about your son. I too am having seizures and have seen three neurologist. I have done several EEG's and the 5 day stay in the hospital were they try to induce a seizure. After all that I was finally tested for Lyme and this seems to be the culprit. I have been using both traditional medicine and homeopathic medicine and seem to be getting some controll on them. Good Luck and do your research!

I think it might be related. Was in Hopkins EMU and had spikes ...They had no clue why. Next to me was a baby with seizures, they told the mother it gets better when children are 14.

Dear Jen,
I tested positive for the mystery bug some years ago.
I also have had seizures.
Personally, I've found the advice in the article on Nutritional Treatment for Seizures that was posted here at Lymenet to be the most useful data.
You can probably find it using the search feature.
If not, PM me, and I'll send you a link.
Best,
