It is my understanding that cyst form bacteria form and turns back into spirochete which causes all of our symptoms.
The scary part is that this may be life long?
I need to understand the rules of engagement so i can conquer those little buggers.
Also, someone told me that your body can keep the disease in check. Is that true? Does that involve a strong immune system?

A good lyme doc gives you something to kill the cyst form of lyme, such as flagyl. (You have taken it.)
This is one of the major points made by Burrascano--you have to treat the spirochete form and cyst form at the same time to make progress with this disease. That requires 2 different antibiotics at a time. For example, zith and flagyl, amoxi and flagyl, and I guess biaxin and flagyl.
Once the meds kill nearly all the germs, a good immune system takes care of the rest. To strengthen your immune system you do various things such as Burrascano type exercise program, no steroids, no smoking, no alcohol, take garlic, don't get behind in your sleep, etc.
Also, winter is a stress on the immune system, so my doc would not allow me to stop treatment in winter. I had to just stay on meds until spring, even though I no longer had any symptoms.
It worked for me. It's been 4 1/2 years since I completed my treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life.
If you relapse in spite of all this, then Burrascano says to consider a missed coinfection. For example, babesiosis or bartonella. Looks like you treated bart for only 1 month (with levaquin, which is good). So, you could still have bart.
Also, you treated babs but only for 2 months. That's not long enough to get rid of babs. Also, Burrascano says to always add artimesinin to the babs treatment (malarone and zith or mepron and zith). You pulse the artimesinin.
You also stopped treatment in February, which is still winter. My doc made me take meds until April.
You should continue treatment at least 2 months past the point that you are symptom-free. Did you do that?
Since you achieved remission once, I expect you will do fine. It's just a matter of figuring out what you missed.
The best thing you can do to understand how to beat this is to study Burrascano's guidelines.

Hi TF-curious on how bad your lyme was in terms of symptoms and how long you had to treat.. was it all orals?
