I am having a lot of pain and pressure and redness in my eyes. I have Lyme and Bartonella and have been on various abx for a year. I have seen an eye doc who said I had conjunctivitis and treated it 5 x only to have it come back.
Does anyone know a LL eye doc in MA? There was one at the Lyme hearing in Boston last fall. Did anyone get his name? feel free to pm me with any info. This is getting more than a bit scary.

Cuffee,

There is a good eye doc in Cambridge, but I am not sure what his stance on Lyme is. But he is very thorough and I recommend the visit. I took my dad to him a few years ago and was impressed with their thorough approach.

I received an email from a new friend in CT, and below, I shared an excerpt from his email. He may comment when his eyes are better!

I had a consult with a Lyme-literate ophthalmologist out in NY the other day. Glad I sought the doctor out. Looks like my blurry vision is due to two conditions: conjunctivitis probably caused by Lyme, and dry-eye. The doc is putting me on antibiotic eye drops.

This doctor had Lyme, and has recovered from it...was on antibiotics TEN YEARS. I was encouraged when he told me that he also had neuropathy in his legs (my main complaint) which is now gone.

I highly recommend him to any Lyme patient with vision problems. His name is Dr..... I had a consult a year and a half ago with an ophthalmologist at Opticare, and he was worthless, never found anything amiss! I've been having episodes of blurry vision for years now.

And this follow-up a few days thereafter:

Hey listen to this: started the abx eye drops. Two different ones, seven times a day. One has azith. in it. When I put that in my eyes, I got stabbing pains in my eyes for an hour. Absolutely awful. Called the doc, and yes, as I thought, I'm herxing in my eyeballs! He said it's good news. My eyeballs, despite 1 year of oral hi-dose abx, are still riddled with spirochetes and they are dying off causing an eyeball herx.

I find the stabbing pain is diminishing with each application. Also, it caused some overall body herx, and new secondary Lyme rash appeared on my leg. To think I've had burry vision for years, with several docs, including an opthal. looking at my eyes...all missed the fact that my eyes were a reservoir of spirochete infection. arghhhhhhhhhhh
