I've made progress in my lyme treatment (and now bart treatment) but one of my lingering symptoms is air hunger...its awful!

I went to my llmd today, and asked if we could treat babs since my air hunger has not gotten any better. I thought air hunger is always babs. He said I do not have any of the babs symptoms, and air hunger can also go with lyme and/or bart.

We are going to continue to treat bart for now.

Has anyone else gotten rid of their air hunger by simply treating lyme or bart and not babs?

Help!

It can also be a Lyme symptom. I don't know how it causes this - does anyone have that info?

There is an article in the Focus newsletter of the Allergy ResearchGroup, October 09, that discusses how some inflammatory chemistry, specifically, nitric oxide and a byproduct, interfere with O2 absorption. Plus there's a list of supplement remedies.

I couldn't get the url to open just now, but if you go to AllergyResearchGroup, click on newsletter, then Oct 09/Pall research, that's the article that talks about oxygen deprivation in the tissues. I don't know if that translates to air hunger.

Thanks, I thought air hunger was only associated with babs. I hope it leaves with my bart treatment!

NO! It can be Lyme. I know most Lyme docs and research I have read state you can have breathing issues with Borellia.

I had air hunger for a YEAR after I was finished treating Lyme. I continued to get better and better, and it was only recently that I got rid of the air hunger. I have no idea what was causing it.

It can be thyroid ..... so maybe adrenals? I don't know, but I do know that all my other symptoms were resolved (except for insomnia which also continued to get better as my adrenals healed).

For a while tonic water helped, so it may have been lingering babs that my body eventually got rid of as I healed. After a while the air hunger was minor and tonic didn't help.

Air hunger=?Oxygen deprivation?

Can having trouble breathing and low oxygen on tests could be from Lyme? and Babs?

When I breathe I feel like there is never enough oxygen getting in and need to breath like some large bellows to get enough in.

I used to wake up not breathing too a lot but am doing better.

Can this be all Lyme and other things? If so what other things are likely?

Thanks.

Seems to me by now there would be some scientific knowledge on how Lyme causes air hunger. Anyone know?

Mine was from Bart. I thought it could be from
Babs since I had/have that too but when I went
off the Bart meds that came back quickly. I
only resume Bart meds and it went away with in
several months. Now that I am not on Babs meds
no air hunger even though some Babs symptoms have
started to come back -- no air hunger ---only chills. So for me I knew mine was from Bart.
