I have been on two tsp of Mepron for Babesia and the last 24 hours have had difficulty breathing. I climb steps and it feels like I climbed a mountain! Heart racing, can barely catch my breath!

I woke up almost gasping for air with my heart rasing and my chest hurting.

Hey Rich,

I have been treating babesia and have had the same symptoms. I often feel like I am having a heart attack and feel like I cannot breathe or am not breathing properly.

You first need to rule out any heart problems.

I landed in the hospital for 4 days and had a catheterization..they tell me my heart is "Pristine".

That said, I had an episode 2 days ago that I would swear was a HA. Rapid heart rate, upper chest burning, left arm burning....

It went away after about 1 /12 hours...still a disturbing symptom.

You really do need to have your heart and possibly lungs thouroughly checked out to make sure nothing is going on.......

then, when all is clear, you may attribute it to babesia and babesia treatment.

They would LAUGH at me at the ER. I have been through it before. They just say you are a mental case.....and kindly send you home.

I noticed I lost another 10 lbs the last month. I look like walking death. Down from 215 lbs and muscular to white as a ghost, 185 lbs and frail. Ain't Lyme grande?

Oh, thanks to Lyme I have an EKG block? And, a heart murmor. I have been checked too.

I have Babesia Duncani, also known as WA-1 and dont think I had severe breathing problems or heart racing like you WHILE herxing.

I have been on Mepron/Azithromycin and never had this, I did though have SEVERE heaviness as a herx, starting on the 6th day of Mepron/Azithromycin, like a 1000lbs was on my

chest, this was a symptom I got while OUT in daylight, so that told me it was a herx, it eventually got better, but it was severe, I thought I was going to die from this herx, it eventually got better slowly.

I would check this out, what else are you taking besides the MEPRON, maybe you are having an interaction, I had this HERBS and antibiotics,

I had been on some herbs, and the combo with antibiotics gave me severe racing heart and out of breath.

Hope this helps, always double check what you are on with a few pharmcies and the Internet, such as the Drugdigest.org on the interaction tab.

I also have babesia duncani. I can tell you that it was untreated for 4 years. During that time I had severe episodes of chest pressure. I couldn't climb the steps. I would feel like I was going to pass out by the time I got to the top. My heart would race.

I had a cardiac cath and everything was fine.

When I started on Mepron the symptoms at times go
alot worse. I was eventually able to tolerate 5tsp of Mepron a day.

Back off the Mepron for a day or two.

Get you heart checked out to make sure it is nothing else.

Most likely, its just like the rest of us. A babesia symptom.
