Same here. If you have mercury fillings in your mouth you shouldn't use it. Get the fillings removed first then it will be safe to use.

I had my fillings removed over a year ago, and now when I do chelation rounds the first few days after I stop a round I get horrible pain in my jaw and gumline on the side where the fillings were. Really bad right between the teeth that had the fillings. So I'd hate to know what it would do if I was chelating with the fillings still in.

My alt doctor recent prescribed NAC for me and said it was OK to take it with mercury fillings and not to worry about it.

Anyone do NAC with fillings in your mouth? Problems??

I wouldn't do anything related to chelating with amalgams in my mouth. Why not get them taken out? The instant I realized mine were what they were (actually mercury not silver like the lying ^#$&'s told me) I got mine out. So just get them taken out so it'll be one less problem you're dealing with.

Gary, if you have dental insurance and your fillings are old, then insurance will cover the replacement. I just had to pay the difference between the cost of amalgams and composites.

Chelators pull metals out of tissue. Many of us have been heavy metal toxic.

Street129:

NAC stand for N-acetyl-cysteine which is a type of chelator. A chelator is something that binds to a metal to get it out of the body.

six, I do not have dental insurance. We do have a great "metal free" dentist here who my wife goes too, but he's very expensive. I would love to have my mercury fillings removed, financially it just isn't possible.

So, as long as I have mercury in my teeth, I shouldn't take NAC? Wonder why the alternative doctor here says it's OK. Another alternative doctor who I went to a couple of times in the past wanted to do the IV Chelation therapy on me. He also said the fillings didn't matter.

I tend to think it does matter, but why would these ND's say it's fine? Anyway, I haven't taken the NAC yet because that is a concern I do have. No telling where the metals will end up if I take the NAC. It's not worth the risk to me.

Now i am confused. I have filling and am not able to have them taken out due to money issues. We do not have dental insurance or i would.
My LLMD said to take the alpha L Acid for my liver and it has worked great.
My liver enzymes were going up and up.
I starting taking it an the very next week when had my labs done they were within nomral range. This is the only thing that i had changed and they had not been normal for a very long time.

The LLMD said that this is even used to bring people out of liver failure.
I think it works great.

gwb - a couple of years ago I tried IV chelation with amalgams in my mouth and it was a nightmare.

I believe it can pull the mercury out of the fillings and redistribute it.

I was up all night on Lyme chat looking help that night!

Lemon water and activated charcoal all night long. Felt like I had nuclear waste going through my veins.

Might not be the same for everyone but that was my experience. My alternative doc didn't think fillings made a difference either.

Care Credit is a program you can use that allows you to pay for dental procedures. If you pay it off within a year, there is no interest.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is also a powerful antioxidant to prevent free radical damage. It is often recommended to be used with Acetyl L Carnitine and you can buy it already capsuled together. I would not worry about old fillings. There was a story about these two supplements in Readers Digest several years ago calling them the closest thing to a fountain of youth. Acetyl L Carnitinte converts to fat to muscle and helps with energy. Both of these are not only very safe, they are extremely benificial to use. Google them online for more information.

Nana, thanks for sharing your experience with me. Sorry you had to go through that nightmare.

You would think that alternative doctors and people who treat naturally would be aware of the dangers of chelating for those of us who have amalgams in our mouth. What's wrong with these people?

Anyway, I haven't used the NAC and don't intend to until I get the metal out of my mouth. Yeah, my wife used the Care Credit card and we are aware if it, but the idea of going in debt right now isn't very appealing to us.

Sadly, I have six teeth with silver in them, so that will cost quite a bit of $$$ to have them removed and refilled. I do think I'll have it done at some point though.

Thanks again for sharing your experience with me. Helps to reinforce my decision not to use NAC at this time.

Gwb about natural doctors.. I can tell you ACAM doctors are the least knowledgeable. They tend to push whatever is profitable and have set standards of what to do for types of conditions rather than fully evaluating the person. It's an organization much like the AMA but just a natural version. For instance instead of oral chelation they'll try to charge you $100 to do IV vitamin C or IV EDTA, both at a huge markup which gives them a ginormous profit. Even if you want to do IV chelation phospholipid exchange with EDTA would run about $10 a dose at the highest, but ACAM doctors charge ten times that just for the EDTA alone. So I'd recommend staying away from doctors associated with that organization. Their interests are financial not your health

I have done Alpha Liphoic Acid and Acetyl L Carnitine since starting treatment 8 months ago. This was recommended by my LLND--Naturapath who has trained to be Lyme Literate with the Turn the Corner Foundation. I still have mercury fillings in my mouth so I don't think it really matters.

Note.
I have gotten updated information from Hulda Clark who treated cancer patients for years and told people to take out the fillings.

She apologized on a video and said that they found that not only was the procedure more damaging but that the new fillings that were white and composites had as big of a toxicity issue as the mercury fillings.

Her new recommendations is leaven them or pull them....

I did lots of chelation and never had an issue. I do not have a ton of fillings but a few....for sure.

So.. I have heard both sides.. and not sure what to believe.. ya know?

I watched a few videos of dentists doing procedure.. yikes.

I had a specialist do an ultrasound type procedure that evaluated the toxicity in each tooth and in the bone and tooth sockets. i spent a ton of money on that alone.

My results were suprisingly low.. and the doctor was suprised too.. That also made me not want to proceed.......

So.. I think good care of your teeth and gums and not letting any plaque or bacteria build up and keeping the gums from loosening at all is just as big of an issue..

Just my opinion..

Dental procedures alone also can set you back from the various things they use in the procedures as well as the trauma etc.. I just think you should never jump into such a thing...

Needless to say the drilling and mercury removal gives you full new exposure to it all and.. its all risky..

My integrative LLMD also feels it is ok to use an oral chelation product with the fillings in place.

Whenever I had an old filling touched it ended up infected and needing a root canal...happened 4 times...I am allergic to every ABX except Levaquin so treatment difficult...plus I have angioedema and dental work sometimes sets that off

Not worth the conseqences and the expense to try to take them all out.

Some composite fillings can be toxic. My dentist uses EAV to test for more than a hundred different materials to find the ones that are bio-compatible for each person.

Imaginit,

How many teeth do you have mercury in? Have you noticed any neurological problems being stirred up since taking NAC? Do you feel it's actually been helping you to improve?

Have you personally taken oral chelation products? Did you have any problems or side effects from it? Did you noticed any improvements from taking them?

learning, just don't take any vitamins around the same time you'll take the DMSA because the DMSA can bind to some of the minerals in the vitamins and then not pull out as many metals as it would have. Also you might get a detox reaction from it, which would be symptoms getting worse. For instance when I chelate my tachycardia gets a lot worse, so things like that might happen. But with the one dose it shouldn't be too bad so don't worry.

I love alpha lipoic acid, and have four mercury fillings. Use the brand by Metabolic Maintenance after reading about it from Dr. Berkson. It is pharmaceutical grade thioctic acid, and that is the brand that they sell.

"Have you personally taken oral chelation products? Did you have any problems or side effects from it? Did you noticed any improvements from taking them?"

I am just going to start CheleX...ordered by my integrative LLMD after a urine challange test showed off the charts lead and borderline high mercury

I had IV EDTA in the office and had a repeat test. Doc wanted fillings out and me to go into the office twice a week indefinitely for IV treatment.....not an option for many reasons

I am starting the CheleX tomorrow..you can find what's in it online...we'll see how it goes.

The heavy metal thing is controversial, I am 70% better in 1 1/2 years treatment and do not want to backslide...the doctor feels I need to "get the lead out" so to speak....

Renee, I already have a bottle of CheleX here but several people caution against taking it because it has NAC in it. Seems many people think it's not something you should take when you have amalgams.

Obviously there are others who feel differently and seem to do well with it. Seems your LLMD is OK with you taking it even though (I assume) you have amalgams. Interesting.

Please keep me posted either here or via pm and let me know how you do on the CheleX.

Thanks.

That gives a lot of information about ALA so you can read for yourselves how beneficial it is. Also look up Acetyl L Carnitine which is usually taken with it. Wow! I did not realize ALCAR is also one of the best things to take for memory and cognition. Boy, I am upping my dose!
