I feel like I read that somewhere. But I might not have.

I don't think I would have made it up out of thin air though.

It's common to do one week of Flagyl or Tindamax per month, but I think I read some credible source, or some LLMD, who said when you start these drugs, be sure to do the drug for a solid...6 weeks?....THEN, you can start pulsing it however you like.

Or was it on LymeMD's blog?

Has anyone heard this, or can anyone remember who might have said it? (maybe it was just a user here at Lymenet?)

Keep in mind it might not even be true, I'd just like to know where I heard it, if anywhere.

I am starting a cyst buster soon, and this crossed my mind....but I just don't know if it's credible information. Thanks!

Hi Hoosier,

I know a few who only pulsed Flaygl a few days
a week or even Tindy one week a month. I am about
to start Tindy 3 days a week for at least a month.
My LLMD did not say anthing about taking it daily
but did say to NOT drink any alcohol with it
at all ----including detox tinctures such as Cowden or one can become very ill. He said on the days I was not on Tindy any alcohol based detox drops were ok. So that was not a direct answer to your question but thought the info may help.

yes you should take it for 10 days first time in case you have other intestinal bacteria so that it can be killed off and not become resistant.

Hey Hoos,
I pulse tindamax on the weekends then five days off. I did ok the first couple of weekends but then the herxes really hit. I don't know if this drug stays in your system very long but it sure seems like it.

AND it made me herx more with the other abx--Zith and Omnicef. I got so sick I have had to take a week off and titrate back up on everything. Two steps forward, two steps back. At this rate I'll never get to Oz.

Swedish Lyme Sufferer,

Yes, I think that could have been the reason I heard awhile back.

Luckily, my pulsing schedule is supposed to be one week per month, so I could probably just extend that first week to 10 days without asking my doctor. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

Sutherngrl and Icky Ticky,

Do you all know why your LLMD's like you on the drug all the time, and not pulsed? (if they mentioned why) Like does it work better that way....or are they worried about Lyme developing resistance at first, etc...?

I'm sure eventually pulsing it is okay, I was just worried about doing it at first.

Sometimes I worry too much about this stuff though, so I don't want to over-think things.

I just read about Dr. Burrascano's recent recommendations to utilize Flagyl (at a conference somewhere--sorry don't have the link). But Dr. B says Flagyl must be taken daily, but can be pulsed 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Depends if you follow his school of thought, or others i suppose.

I took Flagyl for 3 weeks, then had to back off from nausea, and now am starting to ramp up again with an anti-nausea med (Zofran) to allow me to tolerate it.
