I am currently taking 1.2 mu X 3 weekly.

Is there anyone out there taking more? I know of one person that was doing the 2.4's, but I can't remember how many times per week she did them.

What's interesting is that while I'm a relatively small person (115-120 lbs), when I was taking oral Amoxicillin, my doctor wanted me at a certain blood level, and he was surprised at how much Amox I had to take orally to get to the desired level. Now, I don't know if that effect translates into shots.

But with this Bicillin...yes, it's helping, but I sometimes think a higher dose would help more. I just feel it in my intuition.

I am just wondering what kinds of doses people are taking?

And wondering if the 2.4's are a lot more painful than the 1.2's?

Lastly...does anyone combine Probenecid with Bicillin to amplify it's effects?

Thanks!

I take 2.4-- 2 x a week. So that would be more then you. My LLMD still gives out the Rx for 1.2 but I do one on each side 2 days a week. He says he only gives the 2.4 to pts. he does not like (LOL)as they are larger and more painful.

I am not sure why there is not blood testing for the Bicillin
but maybe since it is IM that it stays in our systems longer then an oral like Amoxcy. Mine son
was on that and he took probencid with it too and
had levels ck. I think for oral Amoxcy it needs to
be taken every 4-6 hrs to keep blood levels high
enough where as IM Bicillin has a half life of 6 days I believe.

Thanks for the info.

That is a good idea, one on each side on the same day. Then with 3-4 days off, that would give you enough time to recover.

Because I'm getting to the point, 6 months in, where it's hard to find spots to inject in that aren't a little hard (just because it takes each spot awhile to recover), so 4 times a week would be tough on different days.

Is Bicillin helping you? Is 4 shots per week better than 3?

Hooiser,

I do like the 4 shots only 2 times per week and find it helped more then the 3 shots. I cannot really tell what it is hitting as I am on
other abx with it. I have been on it almost a yr.

I take 1.2 in each side once a week (2.4 total weekly). 2 months in and doing well but may add 1 more injection in weekly.

I did 2.4 mu 3x a week. It is more painful because it is actually a bigger needle when you buy the 2.4 mu per syringe and then there is more to inect into the muscle. I personally think 2.4 would be too much for you as you are small. I weigh more than 2x what you do and have a bigger bum!!! LOL
