I am starting treatment with malarone.

ART testing showed it is good for me.
I would hope it works for protozoans, Fry bug...

Does anybody have experience with malarone?

I also rife for malaria at the moment.

Did someone have side effects or did not tolerate
it?

Karen

How long did you take it and are you still better?
Did you take it for the Fry mystery protozoan?

Hi Karen --

I am not 100 percent sure about this info-
but I think you are supposed to take it
with Fatty food-

This helps it get absorbed better

With Mepron I am 100% sure that you
are to take with Fatty foods --Jay--

Yes take Malarone with fatty foods too.

Well I just read what I wrote and that didn't really come out right. I did great on Malarone......meaning..... it wasn't hard to take, I didn't have side effect, it didn't make me feel awful, that kind of thing.

I'm not totally sure I have Babs, since my test showed I might have a "partial immunity" to it. Don't know exactly what that means.

But since I wasn't getting better we decided to treat it for a couple of months. Then I went back to lyme treatment.

I have been treating this stuff for 20 months so far. A lot of it is trial and error. Back and forth until you eradicate it all.

The Fry mystery protozoan...... since no one seems to even know what the heck it is, how do you treat it?

Well Seek that would indeed be GREAT; but for me not feeling worse or like pure crap on medication is also great.

I should have worded it differently. My brain sucks!

I think making "small" health improvements is pretty great when it comes to LD!

They say the Fry bug has two different things, a toxo and a malaria like DNA.

I was on flagyl only 250 twice a day and it was helping so much and no I will start malarone.
Also I rife for both of them.
It sounds like malarone is a good medicine.

Thank you all for sharing your information.

Okay, I'm really showing my absolute stupidity here--someone please give me ideas about what constitutes a fatty food. Is that something like ice cream or peanut butter? And how much should you eat with malarone?

LLMD just gave me a script for it, so I need to figure this stuff out (as well as how to pay for it) before I fill it.

I take it w/ a spoonful of peanut butter, and with meals, so that the fat in the food helps the malarone get properly utilized.

How much malarone are you taking? My LLMD recommended backing off and ramping up the dosage slowly when I started to have serious herxing.

I haven't started yet, but I think the dosage is 250mg.

Thanks for the advice about foods--I figured I'd take it with a meal, but I wanted to make sure I'm getting enough fat on my meal.
