my gastro said that although my tests were negative for c. diff he's pretty sure i had it.

he doesn't want me taking anything unless he approves it and especially NO abx, at all. unless i am strictly supervised.

so i'm taking about 5, yep, 5 probiotics. florastor, culturelle, phillips, jarro, and critical care. twice a day. until further notice i guess.

but here's my question. if you're taking a ton of these things, why couldn't you do the abx? or is it because you now have a proclivity for c. diff?

has anybody just had to permanently stop abx due to side effects? and if so what treatment did you use?

i understand relapse is pretty common with c. diff and i'm trying real hard not to do it. my abdomin is real sore and i'm still dealing with the diverticulitis.

Take it easy, try to get it under control,
then after some time you can try ABX again.
If you get problems again, then you have to stop ABX.

I would not go back on antibiotics again, its too high risk. Try the herbal protocols like Cowden, Zhang etc. C.diff has an extremely high relapse rate. You might (big might) be able to go on antibiotics again but take it VERY slow and I would wait atleast 90 days until your gut is 100% cured.
C.diff can kill you, and its not worth the risk.

Something to consider...if you truly NEED antibiotics for Lyme, you can do IV Vancomycin and/or oral Flagyl. The IV Vanco does NOT work on c.diff, only the oral form does but it will work for Lyme, meanwhile FLagyl (oral) works for both Lyme and c.diff) but be careful with Flagyl.
