My insurance won't pay for my bicillin shots. And walmart pharmacy charged me $283.00 to get five 1.2 MU's. Anyone know of a cheaper place to get it?

Costco and Target both charge about $511 for 10 1.2MU doses. Slightly cheaper than $283 x 2 = $566.

However, I (and others I know) have succesfully ordered generic Bicillin from overseas pharmacies at considerably lower prices. It comes as a powder that must be mixed with sterile water for injection. I talk about the procedure on my blog here.

I think this is quasi-legal (note: I am not a lawyer) if you have a prescription, but there is always a chance that customs will seize your package. Never happened to me, but it's still a possibility.

wow generic is alot cheaper. Does the oversees generic seem to be as good as the name brand. and have you had good results with it? I heard

alot of things about the oversees drugs being diluted or fakes. but if its from a trusted source others have used i might give it a try.

I bough tmy meds from spain, and I didnt like the bicillin. It was lumpy and always got clogged in the needle so I never got the right amount or I had to stick myslef mutliple times.

I would just buy the good stuff because you get what you pay for.

ps. I have a lot of experience with mixing meds so that wasnt the problem.

merry makes a valid point and if I had unlimited funds I would buy the U.S. Bicillin for the convenience. However, that is not the case:-( So I have gotten it from Spain also. Yes it tends to clog even in a twenty gauge needle but if an eighteen gauge needle is used and is changed after drawing the medicine and then the syringe is held virtical so no medicin gets into the needle until the last second, then it rarely clogs. The liquid volume is greater but the solids are probably about the same as U.S. Bicillin is as thick as Elmer's glue while the European version is about the consistency of milk.
I think the medicinal quality is at least comparable. Bear in mind that the western European countries have far better healthcare than we do in the U.S. Teh World Health Organization ranks the U.S. between Chile and Slovakia. I actually prefer the French version, Extencilline, manufactured by Aventis. As far as couterfeits go, my assumption is that it is too cheap to be worth counterfeiting. It would make about as much sense as couterfeiting pennies.
