I have this problem as well. I keep telling all of my doctors about it: My primary care doctor, OBGYN, and LLMD. They all seem to blow me off.
I have significant pain on my right side of my lower back, but it does happen on my left side from time to time. Sometimes it aches so much that it's annoying to even sit down.
My primary care doc has checked me for kidney problems through a urine test. But other than that the docs blow me off.
I totally know how you feel. I think it's just another symptom of LYME!! Hang in there!!!

I've just been dealing with this same problem. It seems like when babesiosis symptoms bother me, so do my kidneys, especially the left one.
It mostly aches but sometimes stabs. I went to my primary doctor after suffering for two weeks and tests came back normal.
She wrote me a letter saying that it's probably my Lyme disease causing the pain. I felt glad she wrote that because I wasn't sure if she truly believed I have chronic Lyme or not.
Anyway, I've been drinking cranberry juice and it helped significantly. Now I only feel an occasional twinge of pain.

If your urine looks pale, your kidney is not filtering properly. Your urine when you are on any type program that involves toxins should be strong in color and the smellier, the better. It means the kidneys are working.
The kidney cannot tolerate as much toxin as the liver can push through. Compare the area to a football field vs. pingpong table.
Making sure you absorb get and absorb all minerals and electrolytes is very important. Unda 243 is of help, Renelix helps, and then of course some of the herbs.
Kidneys do not repair like the liver can. So it is very important to hydrate (not with gallons of plain water.... because you are flushing all the good minerals out before they can do their job), but use liquids that contain some proteins that will take time to digest. I posted a Rehydration Cocktail that will help. If the kidney is overwhelmed with toxins of any kind, it will hurt. I posted the Cocktail on the Allergie Immun thread about a week ago.
Take care.
