I am not very knowledgable about homeopathy.
My doctor told me to get Arnica, a homeopathic, at any health food store, and take 3 tablets, once a day. He didn't tell me what it was for, actually, because he just added it to my list and we were in a hurry.
I read somewhere on Lymenet that it can prevent infection after tick bites though. Hmm. It's also labelled for bruises or trauma.
But anyways, at iherb.com, they have 6X and 30X. How do I know which one to order? Or should I just call my LLMD's office and ask?
Thanks!

Yes, call them. May have to talk to doc as front desk may not know.
Have them give doc your file before you talk to the doc and tell them it will be only 20 seconds on the phone with the doc.

6X is a lower strength than 30X. Depending on the homeopathic, I often start with a lower dose and work my way up but arnica is probably fine to start at the higher dose. You can get higher strengths than 30X even.

My doc is trying to hit my Bart hard right now, so that could have been why he told me to take it.
He's trying to hit Bart and micro-filaril worms more.

I contacted my doctor today and am waiting to hear back....but I'm thinking I'll just plan on getting the 30X if they don't have an opinion either way.
Since I'm on other Bart herbals and meds, the 30X will probably be okay, right?
This is the thing that ALWAYS confuses me about homeopathy. Unless you muscle test yourself, how do you know which one to try?
Are you generally supposed to start with the lower frequencies (like 6X) and work your way up? Or do people commonly skip ahead to the higher ones if they think they can handle it?
Are there only certain frequencies that will work (like tuning into a radio station), or do all the frequencies for one remedy work to an extent?

30x is a higher strength than 6x. The higher the number the higher the strength.

- It is best not to skip ahead. Start at the lower dose (if that is what your doctor recommended). Do not increase dosage strength without your doctor's orders. At some point if a certain potency stops working, tell your doctor and he may either go to a high potency or change the homeoopathic altogether.
What works for one point in time rarely works for all things, all times. There are hundreds (or more?) homeopathics - and even more combinations. As your body changes, the prescriptions will also change.
Note that mint, caffeine (in coffee, tea or cocoa) will negate the effects.
I find ARNICA a wonderful help. After a seizure, if I immediately take that, the brain swelling is greatly reduced from times I don't take it.
Goats, when they would fall off a cliff, would hobble over and chow down on the Arnica bush. Then, they would bound and sprint off as if nothing had happened.
I'm glad some human noticed the pattern.
Arnica is generally for use after a fall to prevent bruising and to help settle adrenal shock. It is also helpful to relieve nerve pain and pain from swelling.
For on-going, daily use, it may be to support adrenal function. There are many good websites you can search to learn more.
It's full name is Arnica Montana. Bioron is just one brand. You might start at their site and move out from there.
I have never heard of Arnica as infection prevention.
LEDUM might be what you were thinking about there. LEDUM has been used as the first line after a tick bite, say when one is still out in the woods after just noticing a bite. Again, that can be easily researched. But Ledum would never be the complete approach in treating lyme at any stage. -

I have used arnica for many years due to back pain - prior to getting lyme disease. I was told to use 6x for acute pain, such as an accident, and 30x for chronic problems.
Since you don't know exactly what he's using it for, I'd just follow his recommendation.
Sometimes 6x is a little harder to find. I get my 30x at Vitamin Shoppe online, no affiliation, is just much cheaper than the health food store and I can get the 3 for price of 2 pack.

Keebler, thanks for the excellent information. Thanks to everyone else too.
I heard back from the office, and they want me to use the 30X.
I knew about the mint (bought orange toothpaste!) but didn't realize caffeine would affect it. Yikes! I do drink a small cup of coffee every morning. I would like to leave it out, but often it's just unavoidable...it helps me in a number of ways. So wonder if I could wait a couple hours, then take the Arnica?
Now that you mention the adrenals, that is probably why he wants me taking it.
I read about the anti-infection properties from someone on Lymenet, so so far that is the only place I saw it for that use.
