Hi All-
For those who have tried malic acid (800 mg) and magnesium (200 mg) would you please respond???
I started taking this combo because it's supposed to decrease pain and increase energy. Well, I have no pain. However, I'm soooo sleepy. It's given me "noodle legs" and makes me want to just sleep and sleep and sleep. I definitely don't need to be "more sedated!!!"
Did anyone else have this reaction when they first started it? Any suggestions?

Not sure since I have the opposite problem. I welcome anything that makes me sleep!
Magnesium is calming but I can't believe only 200 mg would have that effect. Malic Acid is supposed to help i hink with krebs cycle ( see great plains lab website under fibromyalgia and malic acid). It is also an aluminum /metals chelator.
I'd stay on it for awhile and see if you balance out.

Hubby takes both. I had him on a much higher dose of the malic acid -- 2 pills 3 times daily -- and it did next to nothing for his tendon/ligament pain. Cut his dose in half but may discontinue this supplement.
How is your gallbladder function? Malic acid is one of the primary ingredients in apple juice that is used in alternative medicine to flush the gallbladder. Maybe you are flushing out toxins and that is what is making you sleepy?

It is a great aluminum chelator so that could be a detox reaction you've getting. I get these healing naps like you're describing right after I finish a chelation round.

Interesting. If it's causing a detox, I suggest you go down in dose then.

Thanks so much for all of the wonderful responses...I actually took malic acid by itself just to see if I would react to it...It made me feel achey and my legs feel worse (I suffer from a lot of twitching and tightness and lack of stamina in my legs).....
Oh well.....Thanks again for your help
