Has this been taken off the market? I have looked EVERYWHERE in 4 pharmacies and can't find it. I'm desperate to find something that may help a herx. I've looked in the cold/sinus area and other parts.

I have seen others on another lyme site say they can order it online from the CVS website- you might want to try ordering online.

I always used the Alka Seltzer Gold primarily when traveling because it was labeled nicely and easy to keep in my purse.
While at home, I found it more economical to use Ecological Formulas Tri Salts because I could buy the powder in bulk and mix it in cold water as needed. I believe it's widely available. I used to purchase it from a compounding pharmacist, but I also ordered it on-line a time or two. It comes in capsules or powder, but I've never used the capsules as my environmental doctor who told me about using it to buffer reactions recommended the bulk form. I always got a lot of mileage out of the bottle so it did save, especially when I could order it with other things I used.
It's been many years since I've purchased it, but because it was used by so many environmental doctors, I would imagine it's still around.
If you're uncomfortable switching formulas, you might check to see if Alka Seltzer Gold is available on-line.

It's baking soda and high amounts of vitamin C. I think it's the vitamin C that is wanted to help with a herx. Lemon water may be better for you.
Careful not to use too much Alka Seltzer. It's designed to reduce stomach acid. It will ruin the balance of stomach acid in your stomach.
That will cause you even more problems.

Alka-Seltzer Gold Chemical Information
citric acid - A tricarboxylic acid found in citrus fruits. Citric acid is used as an excipient in pharmaceutical preparations due to its antioxidant properties. It maintains stability of active ingredients and is used as a preservative. It is also used as an acidulant to control pH and acts as an anticoagulant by chelating calcium in blood.
potassium bicarbonate
sodium bicarbonate - The monosodium salt of carbonic acid with alkalinizing and electrolyte replacement properties. Upon dissociation, sodium bicarbonate forms sodium and bicarbonate ions. Ion formation increases plasma bicarbonate and buffers excess hydrogen ion concentration, resulting in raised blood pH.
Check your local supermarket. During the normal canning season, many supermarkets carry powdered citric acid in the canning section of the store.
Check with your local pharmacy. Many full service drug stores and pharmacies carry powdered citric acid year round. You may have to ask at the prescription counter because it may be kept behind the counter and not on the open store shelves.
Check your local health food store or natural vitamin shop. Both carry citric acid, in pill or bulk form.
Sodium bicarbonate...baking soda.
Hard one...potassium bicarbonate In Club Soda and in Baking Powder
Tri Salts or Alka Max as possible substitutions?

Abxnomore.. Yes Glad to see you..
Glad you listed the ingredients and that it is more than baking soda only..
If this helps some with herx that thats great. I have never tried it but might.. give it a try.. I squeeze a whole lemon and also blend lemons with water and olive oil and strain. It does help.
Seek. have you given things some time to work or help. It takes more than one time or sometimes getting the right amount or timing or such ..
Do not give up on some of these things..to quickly.. .. Ok
Just a little reminder...
Sometimes it might work better than we think based on variables and even on the day.
I have noticed that some days things work better than others or even the time of the day or how far away from other treatments etc.. Its not always so simple.. Sadly.. but worth trying in various ways..
Also I now notice I have to have a whole lemon.. (at least) sometimes two to feel an improvement..

Moderation is always the word. Too much baking soda will eventually disrupt the balance of stomach acid in your stomach. Long term use of it will cause low stomach acid, which is not a good thing.

So if you think you have low acid levels all the more reason why it would not be to your benefit to use a substance that would lower it more. That's what baking soda will do.

Hi Gary,
It was so great to read about your experience at the Hansa clinic. I remember reading about how sick you were and it's wonderful to read about you terrific improvement.
I'll repeat, if you have low stomach acid ingesting baking soda will only make that condition worse. Remember, baking soda is used as an antacid and having low stomach is not a good thing. It also contains aluminum salts, something you would be better off without.
Hydrochloric acid is used to increase stomach acid but the causes of candida are many, including diet. Taking ABX is one of the main causes. There are many other approaches to taking care of candida better then hyrochloric acid that have been discussed on this forum a zillion times.
Do a search and you will find lots of information on the topic.
