That's all the doc gave my friend, who had a tick on him for 8 hours this weekend. Shouldn't he be on Doxy for 2-3 weeks? Thanks!

I'm glad your friend told you they only got one pill, according to the minimalist IDSA guidelines. No, no, no! Your friend needs TWO pills!
Ok - I'm joking - if your friend is exhibiting immediate symptoms, like a bull's eye rash, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, that indicates a Lyme exposure in need of immediate and sufficient treatment.
If not showing immediate symptoms, I think it's still a good idea to treat prophylactically for a known tick bite, since many don't exhibit symptoms right away.
For a first-time exposure, I think 6-8 weeks of doxy at least 200mg 2x/day is recommended. And they could use a good LLMD too. Am pm'ing you.
