hey guys i'm 17 years old and from Canada. since the summer i've been having weird vision problems. i get first and foremost "visual snow" like the static of a tv screen over my field of vision which makes it difficult to see at night but does not effect my ability to drive what so ever. i get halos around lights as well. and have easy after images too ( i dont have to be staring at a light or something for very long before it starts floating around everywhere).i get headaches at night and my eyes burn. a few months ago it used to be really bad when i went from inside to outside because my eyes were so sensitive to light, however now i do not have as much as a problem with light sensitivity though it is still there. i wear contacts tho i do not think it is the problem. i also experience eye floaters around the same time everything else started to show up.
so i had read that lyme disease could be the problem and i want to know all of your opinions on what i should do. please help all this worrying and everything is really taking a toll on my school work and my mental and physical well being.

The spirochetes have invaded my eyes and I had capillaries in the whites of my eyes bursting leaving red splotches on the whites of my eyes. Now that I appear to be recovering rapidly, that is no longer happening but is has led me to really focus on eye recovery.
I've used several eye supplements and my favorite is Sight Power by Life Advantage which I order from azurestandard.com. Don't know where else you can get it. My vision has improved from using it and I take it 2-3 times a day with meals. Contacts are probably not great for the eyes. Good luck.

My daughter can no longer wear her contacts. I got
her new glasses as she said she was suddenly too bothered by them. This was the same time the
headaches started every nite. Now on treatment the headaches have gone, but still prefers her glasses.
Eyes are the 3rd. most common site to find borrelia in autopsy of animals so it is no wonder.
Antibiotic eye drops may help to pulse also.

Sorry to hear you are having these problems. It does sound like Lyme (and related coinfections such as babesia and bartonella) could be a good possibility. Many get eye symptoms from these diseases.
One of my 5 year old boys would hallucinate oragne and blue and yellow colored spots. He also had an 8 months headache until he was treated with the right antibiotic. In his case I believe that bartonella caused his headache and babesia was the cause of his hallucinations.
I would go to a doctor experienced in treating Lyme Disease to have a full evaluation. The tests for Lyme and bartonella and babesia are not very accurate, so it is very possible to get a negative result and still be infected. That is why you need to see a doctor who understands this disease and can diagnose it based on symptoms.
Light sensitivity and headaches are also common symptoms of this disease. Keep educating yourself and review symptom lists, as you may be having other symptoms that you don't realize are symptoms. Do you ever get sweats at night? Muscle pain in your back or anywhere or a stiff neck? Insomnia? Fatigue? These are all classic symptoms of these diseases.
Hope you are able to get help soon. If you do end up having tick borne diseases, you can get rid of these problems with appropriate treatment.

Hi - drinking mangosteen juice, which is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, helped clear up my Lyme eye symptoms, tho it looks like it varies in results for everyone.
You might google for our recent mangosteen threads, especially the longer one, and read through it.

Inflammation does a number on the eyes.
Get checked by a very good eye doctor.
Watch for uveitis.
If so, steroid shots DIRECTLY INTO your eyes (LOCAL!) WILL stop any permanent damage.
Lyme CAN lead to blindness. Do not take eye symptoms lightly.
I know...my sis was there. ***The steroid shots saved her eyesight.*** (At one point all she could see on an eye chart was the big "E".)
Uveitis specialist in the Chicago area.
P.S. Systemic steroids are a big "NO" for lyme, but LOCAL injections in the eyes DOES stop any permanent eye damage from happening. Sis said the shots directly into the eyes sound worse than they are!

Your symptoms could be lyme. Silent migraines also produce those symptoms. Migraines might or might not be cause by Lyme.
One of my eye symptoms is my eraser breaks when I'm herxing. Sort of like have a double exposure on a photo. I can see what I was looking at on top of the current view. Like when I read a book and look up at the wall, I can see the printing on the wall for at least 20 minutes...usually longer. It's pretty weird. You feel like you can't see, but know you can see!
Have to look into the Mangosteen Juice!

hey guys thanks for all the help. i think it might just be silent headaches as hostbody has stated. the eye doctor told me thats what i probably had. the only thing is would silent headaches produce the eye static 24/7? i also experience things such as small blue and red rings that dance in my vision especially at night and i remember even seeing those when i was young.. it seems as though things might have just gotten worse. anyway i dont really see how i could have been bitten by a tick but its still a possibility! i will have to schedule a doctors appointment with my free health care and see what he thinks! thanks for all the help guys!

Post under the category, Seeking a Doctor, to find a Lyme Literate MD (LLMD for short) near you. You should be evaluated and treated as necessary.
Plus, as others have said, you need to see a good opthamalogist. I would ask in the Seeking a Doctor category about a Lyme Literate opthamologist, too. That may be harder to come by, but possible. At least someone who is aware of the effects of Lyme on the eyes would be good.
Also, check to see if there is a local Lyme Support Group either in person or online, as they would know the local doctors better. You can go to CanLyme.org or .com (not sure which), the Canadian Lyme website.
Your eyesight is nothing to fool around with! Pretty darned important!

ohh okay i'll check out the canadian one then. my eye doctor for everyones information is a very good doctor and have gone to see others just incase he was missing something which he was not.
