I am really confused, need some references?
I will soon re-test via Igenex...should I be taking any ABX (antibiotics) before testing or not?
I tested 2 years ago, overall neg but more bands than results I often see here. At the time of that test I was NOT treating.
After 6 weeks of tx in 2008 I am still very symptomatic and want to get an accurate result. I recently took doxy for 1 week thinking a 'Doxy Challenge' was the correct action to take, but now not so sure?
From others who have re-tested, were you treating or not treating during/before the re-test and how did the results compare?
The lab wasn't able to answer my questions, suggested that I ask my doctor. Don't currently have a LLMD but will find a new one IF the new test results merit it.
Thanks for any advice

When I re-tested I was on antibiotics at the time. 2x retested, once after 2 months on antibiotics, then again after a year on them. Got more positive each time.

My LLMD had me do the abx before the test. Confused me becasue my PCP was willing to do the Igenex test for me and we called the lab who said not to do any abx at least ten days prior to testing.
I decided to see a LLMD when I realized I needed a doc who understood this test and mostly this disease. The LLMD is known at Igenex - and had me do azithromycin, tinidazole and atremisinin for two weeks prior. They said based on symptoms the thought was Lyme/Babseia. I wsa told doing the abx would increase the chances of a more accurate result. I am so skeptical I called Igenex and said my Dr. said to take these - they said if that Doc said so then do.
Find out my results tomorrow. When the called to schedule my appt to go over results they first told me to renew my med prescriptions (wondered if that meant something - we'll see.

Great. Mine was not so willing, and then tried to tell me it was negative. Be sure to get copies.
I did a homemade antibiotic for 3 mths. prior.

I took Doxy for one month then went off for 2 weeks prior to the test and went from 2 bands to lighting up nearly the whole thing. I was told I had to wait for at least 10 days after discontinuing the antibiotic because otherwise it could cause a false positive.
Good luck, Froggy

No tests are accurate so putting off the LLMD does not seem logical.

PS.. After reading again what you wrote.. you could very well have had Lyme Specific bands on your first go-round. Take no chances, and schedule your LLMD appointment in advance.
