I'm hesitant to even post this because it just sounds so bizarre and I'm wondering if it happens to anyone else.
Certain lighting conditions really bother me. Florescent lights in grocery stores, etc give me an odd tingling in my head, almost like a seizure is coming.
Flickering lights also do it. Candles, or flashes on the TV.
I start feeling very disconnected and feelings of little electrical pulses in my head. It's scary.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Yes! Before treatment I walked out of the grocery store many times without groceries because I would feel like I was about to pass out from the fluorescent lights.
Any type of flashing light would make me have to close my eyes.
The good news is that it went away with treatment. You are not alone.

momintexas,
I have this all of the time...everyday for +2 years...very odd head sensations (like you've described)headache everyday, and pressure too.
Lights make it worse and there is no way that I can endure a dept. store with the lights...yeah, very seziure like symptoms.
Joalo you are so lucky to have responded to treatment....do you remember which med(s) may have helped with this?
Good luck momintexas in finding your key to eliminating these symptoms...they're not fun and life limiting.

Absolutely. It seems like system overload to me.
What works for me is to pre-map my shopping trip, so I don't get sidetracked. Then I am in and out in a jiffy, without having a meltdown.

Yes indeed! I use to have it so bad, that I would have to leave stores within 10 minutes of being in them.
Like I always say.....lyme is bizarre!

Fluorescent lights flicker, which is what your brain may be picking up right now. Bright flickering lights can cause seizures to those susceptible.
I too could no longer have candles lit in the house, and the shadows from my ceiling flans just about would knock me flat. Shadows from trees on the road or movement in the sky would just about send me off the road. (Yes, scary, I did drive while I was sick.)
I'm not sure how Lyme makes us so susceptible, maybe all the inflammation in our bodies? Or possible eye inflammation? I know I had a demyleanated nerve in my right eye while this was going on, which has since healed and I no longer suffer from this.
Wearing my sunglasses 24/7 did seem to help a bit during those times when I HAD to go someplace large with fluorescent lighting.

If I am having a bad day exhaustion-wise, its really bad.
I can barely hold it together by the end of the day, and this past Monday my fiance took me out to eat (tried to anyway) and the combo of the lights, people talking all around, and the waiter asking what i wanted to drink set me into a horrid depersonalization attack (feeling disconnected like in a movie, outside of yourself).
We had to leave, I sobbed in the car all the way home about how my mind simply can't take the stimuli-how my memory is fading-how I can't think anymore-I popped half a klonopin, ate some eggs cooked in coconut oil, and watched Dirty Dancing with my fiance on the couch. Within an hour I was back to normal.
Well...my version of it anyway which is still pretty impaired on a cognitive level haha.
I know its made worse by watching too much tv, or being at the computer, but the computer is my job. Right now I need to work even if it isn't really healthy.

Wow.....thank you for your responses. I'm sorry that I am not the only one who has this, but it is reassuring to know I'm not alone.
Do any of you have co-infections?

Funny--I have just been complaining to my husband about this. I actually had to leave a store yesterday because of this. I get really dizzy and sometimes feel sick to my stomach.
