I am wondering about this. I have had some symptoms that were gone for a few months reappear. I have also been lax in my detoxing -- NAC and milk thistle at night is it.....FIR sauna 2x week, going to add coffee enemas when I can Get Regular. :0

Can CNS symptoms be due to bad detox rather than bug regrowth? I guess I am getting sick of attributing everything to the bugs....but in reality the symptoms match up to the Lyme and co's directly.

I sure hope so. I have times when I am sure I am improving, then out of nowhere, I feel awful again.

I am voting for the possibility of toxins contributing to this. No telling how long it takes to rid the body of all that die off.

I think this is possible. I'm finished with Lyme treatment and test negative for Lyme and coinfections with ART testing. I have no symptoms.

However, if I take a strong detox herb, it can make me feel bad. Red Root, for example.

Also, immune stimulating herbs will still cause an inflammatory cytokine response in me.

Look into "healing reactions" and "healing crisis". This is pretty common in returning to good health.

But, if it is Lyme, don't ignore it!

I'm asking the same question about my son now. He has been doing well for almost a year.

I took him for his first massage last sunday b/c of knee, hip, and heel problems (he is growing fast and a lot). A few days after the massage, he had trouble sleeping, night sweats, joint locking and trouble swallowing. Not sure what to attribute that to...

Massage can stir up toxins, big time!!! They are great for Lymies, but they can make you feel bad for a few days. You need to drink lots of water to flush out the toxins it moves.

Massage was a detox tool I used and continue to use regularly. I had the flu really bad a few weeks ago. A few days ago I had my first massage post-flu and it made me feel bad for a couple days.

Lymies should not get deep tissue massage. Light is better. My therapist is also trained in lymphatic drainage, so the massage is light, but I can still feel the results, sometimes even more so than the deep tissue ones I used to get.

Sounds about right dmbfan.

For me the symptoms that had gone from IV treatment that made a reappearance are some nerve vibrations, twitching/jerking right before sleep, and insomnia.

six,

Immune stimulating herbs cause an inflammatory cytokine response...

How can one know if they are victim to this as well?

Is it probably because you're DONE with Lyme treatment and at this point if your immune system became overactive it would have nothing to attack?

Someone still treating Lyme would almost always need immune stimulating herbs though, right?

My LLMD told me this when I was in Lyme treatment. Inflammation was a huge problem for me and those herbs or some meds would make it much worse. For example, we tried transfer factor and it made me completely not functional.

That being said, when I went to Germany, testing showed that my Lyme load was still very high and I crashed when I went off abx to go there. I'd say Lyme played a huge part, but my LLMD didn't think we needed me to feel so much worse with various treatment when at the time on other treatments I felt pretty well.

Here's an interesting article - http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?id=3748&t=CFIDS_FM

I think it makes sense that those with auto-immune symptoms should be careful with immune stimulating herbs because their immune system is already over-active.
