Went to LLMD on the 12. He wants me to see a rheumatoid for my Joints.

Also, he want me to see a Nuro, can you have Parkinson and Lyme at the same time? My LLMD say's it possible....OK I'm confused now!! I though it was Lyme induced?

What do you guys think?

No the Parkinson's thing is theory here as many other guesses. A lot of reference back to the Alan MacDonald study of a whole 10 brains. I'm not saying it's not a link. I"m just saying on Lymenet, everything is Lyme almost. [Smile]

Find a new dr!

Bringing this to top.. so I'll see it later when I can give you some links on PD and Lyme.

No sensible LLMD would send someone to a rheumie or neuro... at least not in my humble opinion.

I appreciate when LLMD's don't always attribute everything to lyme. I think it is absolutely appropriate for him/her to refer you to other specialists in some cases. Whose to say something else isn't going on OR that in some cases, some of us may not be dealing with Lyme disease at all but something else.

Obviously I'm not familiar with you specific case so I can only make a general opinion.

Parkinson-like symptoms can somtimes truly be lyme but it is unlikely that everyone who has Parkinsons, has lyme. Unfortunately we just don't know what causes Parkinsons.

Unless you are paying out of pocket to meet with these doctors, I don't see the harm in ruling out (or in) other possible factors/issues.

I agree with seekhelp and KS.

My former LLMD sent me to a Neurologist and it turned out I had another very serious condition that had nothing to do with lyme.

In that case I was very happy for the referal.

If your LLMD is concerned about Parkinsons unrelated to Lyme then I would most certainly want to see a NL for that. TG

I would be wary of going unless the specialists were Lyme literate, knowing I do have Lyme.

Are there Lyme literate neurologists and rheumatologists?

Because if not, how can they separate what part is Lyme from what is not, if they don't know about Lyme or they don't believe you have it?

That is why it might or might not be helpful.

It is certainly possible for you to have more than one illness at a time--Lyme doesn't protect you from any, and makes you more likely to get certain ones.

But on the other hand, if you know you have Lyme, it is also possible that every symptom really does come from that.

If we don't have the choice of going to Lyme literate specialists, then I guess we have to make do with what's available.

You could get the specialists' opinions, and then discuss the results with your LLMD.

LLMDs are not specialists in everything--probably why yours wants to send you to specialists--but they know something about all the different symptoms that Lyme can cause.

I did have a couple of relatives who had Parkinson's, and as far as I remember, did not have any other symptoms that sounded like Lyme, so probably Lyme is not the only thing that can cause it.

Don't forget to laugh! And when you're going through hell, keep going!

Bitten 5/25/2009 in Perry County, Indiana. Diagnosed by LLMD 12/2/2009.

I went to a Nuro a couple of years ago and he didn't understand why I was having symptoms that where not PD. And he didn't bother to find out why.

On my IGx results, he said if you delute something enough you will get the results you want...Ugh

know what that is but you are neg....It may be to your advantage though to see how much damage he
