egads, it's back. the horrible swallowing choking food in the throat crap.
last night i laid down and almost choked. yesterday food got stuck and i had to drink more water and just relax, wouldn't go down.
i haven't had this for oh say about two years or so. right when my symptoms started getting bad before i went on abx. it seemed to clear for the last couple of years.
but now i've been on buhner and i'm up to twice a day of each.
is the lyme getting worse, er, i mean i'm getting worse, or is the (gasp!!) dreaded HERX monster?
i know it's a symptom of lyme but can the symptoms come back after you start treatment? sort of like say, starting completely over isn't it?
well.------

Swallowing involves so many different cranial nerves.
I've had this.....bad.
Aspirated often while eating and drinking.
I don't recall it getting worse as in a herx, but just a symptom.
Mine got better with treatment.
However, that isn't to say it couldn't be a herx though.
Take smaller bites, alternate bites/sips, eat some softer food.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs,
Geneal

It is a symptom for me also. Sometimes it is more severe than other times. Makes taking medications and supplements much more difficult.
When it is bad for me I have to eat and drink slowly, small amounts at a time.

Same as Sammy!
For me it comes and goes and I have had it since the beginning of the illness. Sometimes it goes away for a few weeks, then comes back, maybe for a day or two, maybe a month. Last year, it lasted practically the whole year every day.
It is a miserable symptom!

I have this too and it hasn't improved with treatment yet. I can't eat anything dry and even have to add extra sauce and juices to all my foods and meats. I have to drink in between bites. The food just doesn't go down well.

I have problems with choking and swollowing too. It's not all the time, it seems to come and go. I carry water with me all the time. Some times I think I choke on just spit. It'd scary.

Oh, and for me I know it's not a herx because I had it before I ever started any treatments.

Had that symptom, has resolved as treatment went from Bb phase to Bart phase. Vinegar and oil salad dressing was worst offender. Was only a nuisance though... Some have it worse and aspirate and that's a -whole -nuther level.
No longer gagging,
