I posted about this in another thread but it's buried.
I remember reading here this summer that someone's LLMD had them take their Rifampin and Biaxin in a particular order. IT was something like 'take one on an empty stomach, wait a while then take the other with food'. I remember that at the time I was researching the interactions between the two drugs and it made a lot of sense that they were doing this.
Could anyone shed some light on that issue without me having to re-do the research I was doing (but didn't bookmark) at the time?
Thank yoU!

If I remember correctly, Biaxin increases the levels of Rifampin in the body and Rifampin decreases the levels of Biaxin.
Rifampin is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach. Biaxin can be taken with food.
If you have Biaxin XL you can take the whole daily dose at one time (say with breakfast). If you have regular Biaxin you need to take one dose in the AM and one in the PM to keep steady blood levels.
Some docs prescribe Rifampin once daily, others prescribe twice daily. You should probably check with your doctor to see what they want you to do.
