I was at the health food store looking to buy some kind of binding agent to help with detox (doing a liver cleanse while off abx for a month). I was recommended Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF), but now I'm not sure if it has the same effect as simple chlorella. I'm supposed to take 5 tablets (5 x 500mg) in the morning, on an empty stomach.
Can someone tell me if I bought the right product? When I was at the store, I had cholesteramine in mind, but the salesperson had never heard of it.
Thanks,
Julie

- Cholestyramine is by prescription only. Chitosan is a similar thing, a supplement, that may be a good substitute.
Pectin - and also Carob Root powder - are also good to help absorb endotoxins from the gut. About pectin, when you peel a lemon, orange or grapefruit, eat as much of that white stuff beneath the skin as you can. It is very valuable. Organic preferred.
I don't have the answer about Chlorella and endotoxins but others might - and grand Google, too.
========
A cross-search at Google brings up some interesting links:
* Chitosan, endotoxins
* "Chlorella Growth Factor" endotoxins
* Carob, endotoxins
* Pectin, endotoxins -

"We use toxin binding agents such as fiber rich ground up raw vegetables, chlorella (14), cholestyramine (13), beta-Sitosterol, propolis powder, apple pectin and Mucuna bean powder (14). A solid heavy metal detoxification program should be used simultaneously with the first phases of the Lyme treatment. Safe toxic metal elimination is an art unto itself. However, the information is widely available now (15).
The more difficult objective is to choose agents and methods to trigger the release of neurotoxins from their respective binding sites. Only then can they be transported to the liver, processed and enter the small intestine from where they can be carried out by the binding agents.
The toxins occupying the T3 receptor are competitively displaced by oral T3 - cycled with the Wilson protocol (available at most compounding pharmacies). The toxins blocking the cortisol receptor are mobilized with the herb forskolin. CGF chlorella - a sophisticated mix of chlorella and chlorella growth factor (14) - and cilantro given together with a nonirradiated Mucuna bean powder mobilize most everything else. I also use alternate day dosing of an energetically enhanced phospholipid/EDTA/Alpha-Lipoic acid mix (``PhosphoLipid Exchange'')which is currently the most tolerated and effective form of phospholipids for the Lyme patient (14)."

The protocols as in "Lyme Beyond ABX" date back to 2004. Much has been changed and is done differently today, even though the basic approach is still the same: Clean up the body, so the bugs can cool it!
Dr. K. does not stand still and is streamlining his protocols all the time. I have posted the more recent procotols several times just recently. You will find even more on www. Betterhealthguy.com
Take care.

I started using Prime Chlorella 5 days ago. My specialist wants me taking 20 a day-so I am doing 10 tabs AM and 10 tabs PM. Tastes like a hippos bum so I put it in a grinder, drink it with orange juice and chase it with V8. So far I think its great, awful taste but the worse it tastes the more I think it must be good!!!
