So sunday and quite a few months before that I was perfectly normal and then bam monday morning I had liquid stool. Today, COMPLETELY liquid. I have gone at least 10 times today, it came out of nowhere, it is completely liquid, and my bum hurts.

Previously i payed no special attention to the foods I ate and was fine. NOW I am not fine. I just dont see how it could be so sudden! What could cause such a sudden change?!?! I don't know how much longer I can take it... The only "supplements" I am taking is metamucil fiber pills, 2 a day and olive leaf extract, 2 a day.

thanks, [Smile]

Call your LLMD - it sounds like you need a test for C Diff.

In the meantime, I would go on a liquid diet to rest the GI system. Double check that with your LLMD, of course.

Are you taking your probiotics and S. Boulardii, I hope?

i havent had the first appointment with the LLMD so I don't think I can call him to ask about anything.... I had this same issue about a year and a half ago and i had stool tests and they found nothing...

should I drink just water? any foods that I can eat? i mean it almost completely liquid... i ate fish and corn for lunch mabe not a good idea idk.

could it be "infectious diahoreea"

Oh, sorry - I thought you had a LLMD!

Are you on abx at all? If so - then I would call your prescribing doc, because a test for C Diff could be in order.

If not... it could be a bug that will pass. I hope so.

For now... you might try a clear liquid diet to rest your bowels. Clear broths (chicken or vegetable), juices (apple etc), maybe some miso soup if you like it.

Generally, my LLMD has had me do the clear liquid diet till the liquid diarrhea passes, then slowly add in easy to digest foods.

Think of the "BRAT" diet and adjust to fit your dietary needs... Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast.

Keep to simple, easily digestible foods, at first, and go slowly adding new foods back in.

I'd probably add in some probiotics and some s. boulardii as well.

If this continues, I do think a call to a doc is a good idea. Esp if you are having a lot of pain (are you?).

Hoping you feel better soon...

if you have any flagyl on hand start taking 500 at 3 times per day.

also get the florastor and start that at twice a day.

that's the way my c. diff started and i never got a positive test. they went with symptoms

pseudomembranous colitis is the same thing as c. diff.

if you've been on any abx, then i'd go with the c. diff diagnosis.

8 years ago i put one of those heat pads around my neck to alleviate pain/tention, it triggered something off, i had extreme case of diarrhea for 4 days and 4 nights. total liquid form, seems like every drop of fluid just poured out of me. became dehydrated and weak as a lamb, lost a load of weight. ambulance had to rush me to Emergency
of course tests showed up nothing and Ducks had no answers

Just thought I'd mention I have had the same symptom off and on antibiotics. I saw one of your post topics "gurgling" That is how it started for me too.

I take probiotics everyday. Several as a matter of fact including Floraster. But what really soothed the condition and restored my bowels to more normal was drinking yucky tasting Kefir twice a day.

I had heard many chronic ill folks say how great it was so out of despertion I tried it with good result.

Do you have a fever? Do you have pain in your upper intestine area? If you have both of those you may need antibiotic for C. difficule.

Don't mess around with this if you are getting sicker. It is quite costly physically if you don't get it treated properly. Not trying to scare you but it can kill you if you get sepsis from it.

I am not a doctor. I am a patient that reads almost everyday about chronic disease. Take it for what it's worth. [Wink] Be well. [Smile]

I forgot to mention drinking lots of water to re-hydrate your body is so important. Do you have some electrolyte drink on hand? That would really help restore what you've lost. [Smile]

Ok, yesterday my throat hurt, along with my right ear and I had a runny nose. In addition my stomach hurt, much like a stomach ache. Today my stomach still aches, I still have diahreea altho it isn't quite as bad as yesterday, my throat doesn't hurt but I still have a runny nose... it seems like right after I eat the food goes right thru me. Since my stomach aches I dont think it is any type of IBS but I guess it could be. I bought some probiotics and am taking them along with a metamucil fiber pill twice a day in hopes that it will let up..

I have to go to work anyhow tomorrow, already got someone to work for me today. I am hoping it is much improved tomorrow but you never know...

Also, in case anyone else looks at this thread- there's now a small outbreak of norovirus happening in New Jersey- that's the diarrhea disease "stomach flu" that breaks out on cruise ships and other confined situations fairly easily.

People who are becoming too dehydrated from diarrhea or vomiting with an acute illness like that may need to be given IV fluids in a hospital, it can be life-threatening to lose water as rapidly as some of the 'stomach flu' sorts of illnesses can cause.

i just had c. diff in december. my gastro doc gave me flagyl 500 three times a day and said i had to take florstor twice a day.

you cannot take difulcan with florastor but please be assured you must take florastor when you have c. diff.

it's a yeast and it's not like other probiotics. i took those too.

do not take immodium with c. diff. it causes the toxic laiden feces to remain in the colon and pass into the body. not a good idea.

florastor and flagyl will stop the diahhrea within 3-4 days if it's c. diff.

oh i forgot. when. c. diff becomes severe it can look like flu. my first symptoms were an extreme runny nose, joint aches and pains and migraine headaches.

the second came the diahhrea. look up symptoms and you'll see that mild cases have different symptoms and the more severe have flu like symptoms, which i had.

Randibear,
AGAIN thank you. I had NO idea what c diff is/was. well I just researched it and could be I have a mild case of it also...Ghee go figure---"the hits just keep coming".... [Mad] [bonk]

Anyway, I didn have a clue about this but now that I have a heads up I know what to look for. I am going to start my flagyl tonite (a day or 2 eariler than scheduled) and keep an eye on it. If I do have it it isn't severe yet but website said it can turn so quickly. If it does get worse at least now I will have an idea of whats happening.

Bless you Bless you Bless You.

Randibear is right it IT IS OK to take Florastor with flagyl (that is actually recommended for diff. c) I was totally wrong--trying to help but sometimes should keep my mouth shut ):..

It is the dulfican that you're not suppose to take with the Flagyl..

Between all the stuff Im on and now trying to get my son stated with (treament and testing) doxy I cant keep crap straight.

I try to keep notes...guess I better try harder. Sorry [Frown]

is the constant stomach churning and grumbling associated with anything in particular? it was worse with the worse symptoms yesterday but not as bad today.

I'd stop all antibiotics (except Flagyl) and get a c.diff test 3x.

If on Flagyl thoughm your test may be false negative for c.diff.

You CAN take Florastor with Flagyl and antibiotics and probiotics, just not with anti-fungals, Nystain, Diflucan, Sporanox, etc.

oh yes, don't forget diet.

for c. diff i was told clear liquids such as apple juice, water, etc.

absolutely no diary, cokes, etc., beef. just clear liquids for at least 3-4 days.

course it's hard to do on flagyl cause it made me sick unless i ate something, so i had just small bites of crackers, cream of wheat. i know it's gluten and all but i had to eat something.

and i did have terrible gurgling, rumbling, etc. my husband could hear me across the room.
also get beaudreaux's butt paste cause i was absolutely raw from all the liquid diahhrea. it really helps.

and don't forget plenty of clorox or antiseptic wipes. keep the toliet, faucets, etc., all wiped down. it's highly contagious.

can't remember anything else but hoped i've helped.

oh yeah, watch that temp. if it goes over 101 get to er asap. mine didn't go that high, only about 99.

i spend a night and a day in the hospital with it. no fun...

We have a bug going around here like that. I've had it for about 5 days. Started with a really upset stomach, then loose stools. Yesterday I had a really bad sore throat, body aches, bad headache, and still loose stools. Stuffy nose now too.

Don't know if it's one bug or two. I catch everything, so who knows. Other people around here have it too.

hmmm. nope, i had pure brown water. about every 10-15 minutes. no lie, i'd just get off the toliet and make it to the living room and wham!! have to turn around and go right back.

at one point, i just leaned against the toliet and stayed there!!!

in fact, the nurse got mad at me in the er. (aren't they supposed to be compassionate or something?).

i'd get all settled after going and then 5-10 minutes, i'd have to buzz and say "uh oh", finally she just unhooked the iv and said well nothing we can do.

i hope it's just a bug, cause i really need to be back on my biaxin but i'm afraid to now.

and oh yes, i had just taken a cruise to the caribbean for a couple of weeks. this started about a week or so after the cruise.

You can have c.diff and not have liquid, sometimes you can still have it even without diarrhea. It could just be a stomach bug, but better to be safe and get checked.

Another thing worth considering is to get antibiotic free meats if you are going to eat them...especially if you are already on antibiotics or have previously had c.diff.

if it lasts over 7 days I will seek out a doc... I am hoping it goes away..the last time I had this issue a year ago it lasted 2 months, i still don't know what caused it. i think caffiene may have played in it altho I haven't been drinking any lately so I don't think it is the cause this time...

I recently had Norovirus, what MariaA mentioned. I live in the Midwest, close to you, DarkEuphoria.

If it's norovirus, the diarrhea should only last 24-60 hours.

Hope you figure it out. Good luck!
