Hi everyone,
There is an effort beginning to try and get the show "The Doctors" to produce a show on lyme.
I know, I know, people are tired of this sort of thing, and some will say it could actually hurt us if it is all IDSA propaganda.
But every little effort helps. Even if they don't do a show, it makes more of the "medical TV" community (ues, there is such a thing)aware of us, so that we are not invisible.
A ususual, you have to sign up, but its really easy
sign up at top right of page. They send an e-mail back to you, and you reply to the e-mail.
Then click on "Vote"
type in "Lyme" at the top of page for search, there are two postings, vote for either. If you want, you can post a comment, or add you own posting.

- Personally, I don;'t WANT this show to do a program on lyme. I think they would really mess it up. They've had their chance and they could not grasp the complexity of it. Same with Dr. Oz. They just can't wrap their brains around it and the lack of their understanding comes back to harm lyme patients.
Move on to better journalists like those who produce PBS' Frontline.
Better yet, move for all the major networks to air the fine documentary "UNDER OUR SKIN" - That is what needs to be on TV.
But those on "The Doctors" reviewed that, spoke with the producer of the film and just couldn't understand it. Same with Dr. Oz. He had the film's producer for a short chat but Dr. Oz could not thing out of the box on this.
And . . . remember the politics. All network and local TV is subsided by the pharmaceutical industry and also by local medical centers (as well as cosmetic companies that want us to buy stuff to make us look better, not feel better).
Sponsors who pay for these TV doctors would rather have lyme patients require on-going crappy drugs forever that did not treat the actual problem. To speak the truth could cost them their sponsors as well as risk their licenses at this time.
But, mostly, I think they just don't have the intellectual energy to full understand the intricate nature of lyme and other Tick-Borne Infections. -

Totally agree with Keebler esp about The Doctors show. I did read something Oz wrote about lyme--it wasn't totally ignorant. But Oz glosses over huge topics trying to 'make time' for each topic's slot. Remind you of anything, like a real doc visit?
Getting Under Our Skin aired on PBS or cable would be better. But if you feel compelled to make the lyme topic suggestion to thses daytime doc programs make sure you wirte neuroborreleosis or chronic/late stage lyme otherwise you'll get a 5 miinute diddy about acute lyme and prevention.
Maybe Oprah can whisper in Obama's ear, ha ha!
(sorry typos, eyes and hand not working tonight again).
