I have a doctor who treats CNS Lyme with Bicillin dr. C . I was on Medicaid who covered all the shots for 4 years and I was able to get a job. I now have health insurance but when I sent in the prescription they denied it for the treatment of Lyme. Does anyone have a suggestion how to get the insurance to pay /

mcpny- can you outline what your CNS symptoms were and what improvement you got with bicillin?

Have an array of symptoms memory loss joint pain facial numbness extreme joint pain and muscle flare ups. The bicillin SLOWLY brought back my mind and body. I was undiagnosed for 10 years I had been diagnosed with everything else under the sun MS, Epstein Barr, Fibromyalgia and hypocondriac so Bicillin saved my life but now cannot get it my husband left me and if my insurance won't pay then i don't know what I will do. I will have to eventually quit work and I can barely make it now. Very stressful.

I took Bicillin a while back and united health care (UHC) didn't have it on their "formulary" so I would have needed to pay out of pocket.
Fortunately, I had a secondary ins. plan that covered it.
At the time, though, I called UHC and I think (although I might not be remembering correctly) they said it wasn't covered as a pharmacy purchase, but that they'd cover it if a doctor had it delivered to their office and they injected it there -- something like that.
If you are enjoying the convenience of self-administration at home, this would be a pain.
So, I'd call your insurance company and see if there is a WAY for it to be covered. If so, you can then try to figure out how to conveniently get the injections.
Good luck x10 over.

I thought this would be an easy task for me because I had given myself heparin injections at home. Well, it was way different.
The needles is about 4 times as big and the liquid is so thick that it really hurts pushing the medicine. I tried for about 4 tries and I got so upset I called my doctor and asked if she would have her nurse inject me.
So, now I bring in my own medicine and they inject me for free, except once a month when they give me a B-12 shots which they charge the insurance for.
I just couldn't do it. My husband is scared to hurt me, but I told him, I just need to NOT BE ABLE to see where it is coming from!!! It is hard to stab yourself.
But, good luck to you. I hope this medicine works for us both!!

Wait, have you been on Bicillin for 4 years, and now need to continue?? That's unusual, if so, perhaps not unheard of.
Oxford (UHC and Oxford have merged) told my LLMD that I would have to pay 100% for it. But when I called, they said that it would be covered, but I would have to pay out-of-pocket, submit it, and they would reimburse me at 100%. Weird. But the did that for rocephin, too.
But I would ask about that, and, if at all possible, get it in writing! They have so many tricks up their sleeves.
