Has the lyme and coinfections affected anybodys white, red blood cells and platelets? How about their bone marrow? I was just wondering if this happens very often? Thanks for any information you can provide.

I don't have my blood work results in front of me at this time, but I can recall that both white and red blood counts were higher than the high-end markers when my blood work initially done. Now I am just on the high end of both. Don't know if that helps> I just know that my blood definately noticed the infection LONG before the doctors ever did.

It is amazing how these diseases can affect blood counts. I heard some people get high blood counts and some low blood counts.

ME, ME, ME!!!!!!
I've had a low white blood cell count for over 14 years.... and every other time I have my blood tested, my RBC (as well as low hemoglobin and hematocrit) and platelets are also low with a low WBC count.
I've had a bone marrow biopsy one and a half years ago and am scheduled to have one again in a month. They cannot find the reasoning behind my low blood counts and I'm going to Johns Hopkins for the low blood counts because my hematologist couldn't find anything wrong.
I also just got done being tested for a genetic disease that can cause pancytopenia (low blood counts) and thanks be to God that it came back normal.
My bone marrow with the first biopsy was found to be normal except it's very hypocellular, meaning the cells in my bone marrow are far less than they should be. The cells are being made normally and are working properly, but there just aren't many of them.
It's extremely scary, because it almost looks like bone marrow failure, but I'm praying and hoping that this is not the case.

Seems as if there aren't many of us with actual low blood counts with lyme and co's.
