So, for three days, I am trapped at home with electrodes on my head. That's fine, but there is also a video camera to set up. I don't like the idea of a video camera recording me. I think I will be sleeping on the couch rather than a room out of preference. The guest bedroom at my parents house gets too cold.
How many want to bet I will have an abnormal EEG, but they won't be able to tell me why? Hopefully I'll have one of those brief falling sensations (seizure?) or short stabbing headaches.
If you weren't following my threads, I have gone from 12-15 mg of Ativan for several days to 5 mg of Ativan + 1 mg of Xanax a day. That's how messed up my head is. I was sure I was going to die before they infused me 4 mg of Ativan at a time in the E.R., and now I am feeling ok tonight. I think it was a side effect of an anti-psychotic, but I felt that anxiety creeping up on me (which is why I chose to try to the anti-psychotic). No more abx until this anxiety can make some sense out of itself. Looking back, maybe I really was floxed by the Cipro and the anxiety is cycling? The anxiety is just weird and makes no sense. Scariest experience of my life.

Mine showed significant brain irritation that correlated with my abnormal spect scan.
It was a pain to carry the video monitor back and forth so I just left it set up in the bedroom and would sit in there and watch tv and stuff. Many of my 'episodes' were at night while I slept.
the electrodes really bothered me after the first day, I am so sensitive.
good luck!!

When the activity is while you are sleeping does it awaken you? I don't usually wake up until about 5 or 6 AM when my gastro decides it wants to kill me. Sleep is usually peaceful, but sometimes I wake up with my heart racing very fast... last time it destroyed a good dream. Beta blocker wasn't doing it's job.

Well, got all hooked up today. Electrodes everywhere.
They did a flashing light test that made me feel very agitated/anxious at certain speeds. Not sure i it's normal or not, but a couple speeds made my eyes/face twitch a lot of increased my agitation a lot. Thank god that was only a few seconds. I've had light sensitivity that caused agitation (especially at intersections), which is the reason why I stopped driving at night. Lately, I'm not driving at all.
Then she tried to hyperventilate me which just made me dizzy. Then I was ask to go to sleep after hyperventilating and being agitated by a strobing light. Not happening.
The good news is my brain isn't functioning. Sometimes when I get a test, I start to feel better. Not this time. I did get a panic attack today as well that lasted a couple hours. No choice but to take extra benzos (not good for the test, I know).
Already have several events reported on the sheet, and quite frankly, after waking up tomorrow, I don't see the purpose of another couple days of confinement. If the EEG is sensitive enough, I feel confident we got what we need. Maybe not, but what will another couple days add if my symptoms are bad every day?

Does your head hurt? I had an abnormal EEG when my head was killing me and they said it didn't fit any pattern that they were familiar with. At the time, Lyme was not in the picture as a possibility, so they surmised that it might be due to the antidepressant I was on, but I know it wasn't. Besides, I'm still on the antidepressant and my head is fine.
It would be interesting to see if our EEG's had similar patterns, arkkid.
Arkkid, are you from Arkansas? I was born in Arkansas.

- So, you have electrodes on now and you'll be hooked up to a machine at home?
If you have electrodes on your head a warm bath can make your head sweat and that will affect the ability of the electrodes to make proper connections - not just during the bath, but it may loosen the connections totally and make the test impossible to complete.
There must be some reason they told you not to take a bath or was it a HOT bath? You really don't want to have to do this all over if the test mechanisms fail. -
