Hi, I am seeking a doctor who is one of the best for late stage lyme. I live in Pa.but will travel to the best.
I have tried many doctors and feel I have a difficult case, no one has helped with their treatment.
Dr.H in Hyde Park, N. Y. - is he taking new patients and love to hear from some of his present patients.
I have Medicare and Blue Cross/Shield of Del. - would it cover his cost?
I have lyme in my brain, pain throughout my body, constant fatique, balance off, etc, etc.
Any other doctors on east coast for a late stage lyme patient - 12 yrs undiagnosed.

If you want traditional antibiotic treatment, I have no idea who the best doctor is. I know there will be people come around and give you some good suggestions and pm you with names of good lyme doctors.
If you're interested in going the non-traditional route, like I did, then check this out:

Molly, I believe Dr. H. is getting ready to accept new patients again if he has not done so already although I could be very wrong. I will be seeing him shortly and will see if I can get better information for you!

Molly, sorry but the good lyme doctors I know will not take a patient if they have Medicare, period. They have not opted out of Medicare, evidently, so they just can't take such a patient, even if the person is willing to pay out of pocket.
It has become a real problem in Maryland. I have 3 friends on Medicare who can't find a good lyme doc. There is a doctor rather new to lyme that can see them, but he has little expertise as of now.
Why not call Dr. H's office and just ask if he takes people who have Medicare. If he doesn't, then you can just cross him off the list. No sense getting feedback on him.
I hope this Medicare thing does not become a problem for you like it has for my friends.
I have been given a couple PA lyme docs names who will take a person with Medicare but you have to pay out of pocket for everything. If you want those names, send me a private message. I don't know how good these lyme docs are.

Dr. H is a good LLMD, aggressive with abx and well-versed in alternative therapies as well. He does not take insurance, however.

From what Dr. H's out-going message says on their phone tree, they are not taking Medicare any longer as of April 1, but will take patients who have it if they pay totally out-of-pocket. But you should check on the details to be clear.
His office does have a great deal of experience, including with late-stage, difficult cases. That goes for his RN and PA, too.

I had undiagnosed Lyme for about 6 years by the time he started seeing me (I actually got referred to him by a neurologist, go figure).
I was on antibiotics, oral and IV, for about a year and a half, and then all of my symptoms were gone.
I've been off of all my medications for just over a year, but unfortunately my symptoms have come back, and I had to go back to see him this past Monday.
