Oh gosh I sure hope someone can help me with this.....

My "normal" level of lyme exhaustion goes THROUGH THE ROOF when I get my period. Its like I get so bone-weary I wish I was just dead. I've asked my lyme doctor why the exhaustion is unbearably worse when I get my period (I'm talking the few days before and the first and second day) and she said it was caused by adrenals. I don't know if this is correct or not.

Thank You!

Low magnesium. As canefan says, ADRENAL exhaustion - and as your LLMD says.

Can you find a good LL ND (naturopathic doctor) or another LL support doctor who is well educated in vitamins and minerals - and may also in herbal medicines?

Your LLMD may know of a good LL ND or other. It seems she offered you no plan for this ?!? Or did she? Hope so.

An LL ND might also give you the herbs Dong Quai and Angelica, individually formulated with other herbs. Stagnation of blood in the liver and in the uterus are often a problem and certain blood moving herbs help relieve cramping and fatigue. "Cramp Bark" is also an herb commonly suggested.

But, it's not just this or that - but a full approach. As your main symptom is fatigue, my guess is good Adrenel support and sleep improvement are the first steps.

It may also be your body saying it REALLY needs more rest.

This may shed light on the relationship between lyme and the menstrual cycle.

http://tinyurl.com/ye4vbdj

An excerpt

"Using the LUAT. she
discovered an increased recognition of
Bb antigen as progesterone levels fell.
In a further study of 26 women, 21
reported night sweats, and of those
who kept records, the most intense
night sweats were in association with
menstruation.

She also discovered a
significant correlation with intensifica-
tion of Lyme disease symptomatology
(arthralgia, myalgia, cognitive deficits,
fatigue) around the same time
.

Dr. B (female doctor) concluded that there
is an interval of increased immune
activity during several days before and
after the onset of menses"

Sorry, the formatting isn't great but I've had the flu and I don't feel up to re-formatting right now.

Terry
