Hmm... Sometimes. If you are relaxed (which it makes you do, since it's a relaxer) you can fall asleep easily, and your muscles rest, and you wake up with just a tad more energy! It's really great. But if you are doing activities, it doesn't distract you or make you loopy... It's effective but it won't force you one way or the other. That's why I like it so much. GREAT for spasm type pain or getting good rest at night.
The first few nights I took it I had a hangover feeling the next day, headache and light sensitivity, etc, but after that I was fine and now I recommend it to anyone.
Also, your signature says your lyme mimicks MS? Perhaps you could read hte post I just made to the board, I'm having some crazy neuro symptoms of my own
(btw baclofen is very frequently given to MS patients so if you have similarites perhaps it's a really good drug to try anyway!)

I took 10mg of Baclofen for the first time last
night and I woke feeling more stiff than before.
I don't get it.

I should add that she (neurologist) perscribed
this after I complained about horrible calve
spasms that happen sometimes in the night. I
have had those since I was 12.
She observed my walking and said that my right
leg is the issue and perscribed BACLOFEN. Low
Dose Naltrexone (LDN) (3 yrs ago) did the same
thing. Hmmm...

Beware of the Baclofen, I took it for many years.
It does work. But...
when it wears off, you need more Baclofen. Not because your disease is worse. Because you are addicted to Baclofen.
Eventually, you end up on 60mg per day, and your neurologist will say "you are at the maximum dose for oral Baclofen. We need to implant a hockey puck in your abdomen and inject baclofen directly into your spinal cord".
Then you might look up the horror stories of baclofen withdrawal on the web. Withdrawing from oral Baclofen is tough but possible (I did it) but withdrawing from the pump seems virtually impossible.
Be very very careful. It works, but you will pay eventually.

I am very, very, very concerned about this 'addiction' issue with Baclofen. I've been on 10-20 mg of Baclofen for 2+ years now. I don't remember it ever making a major difference for me, but it helps a bit with spasticity. I have always shyed from the higher doses. I had a neuro try to give me 60 mg daily.
What are withdrawal symptoms. I have tried to go days w/o it. I can go with 10 mg a day, but after 2+ days. I seem to feel worse off of it.
I'm very interested in your thoughts and how you weened off of Baclofen.

For me, the withdrawal sx were the same as the disease sx, that is twitching, spasticity. Exactly what you;'d just take another Baclofen for... Plus depression.
Look into the root cause of your spasticity - in my case it seems that unbelievably, dairy is a major contributor. If I don't take dairy, then I can take Magnesium Potassium Aspartate for the twitching and spasticity. But if I am eating dairy, the Magnersium does not work. To get off the Baclofen, I upped the magnesium and cut the Baclofen to zero over a month or so. Not all at once.
Also I discovered tbat taking tyrosine helps as well. I found about this one when quitting another , much more difficult foe - Sinemet, the parkinson's drug. That one took about 6+ months. Severe depression. But the tyrosine helps with the twitchies.
