Just wondering what makes lyme tests valid or positive?? I have a rheumy on one hand telling me that autoimmune, which I have undifferentiated connective tissue, positive ANA, meaning they don't know what it is, that the autoimmune causes lyme tests to come out false/positve....My lyme test does show negative for CDC and positive by Igenex. According to the doc at Igenex I have a lyme that has been around quite awhile, which scares me. I did get some referrals and I am still deciding which ones to see. Just curious about the discrepancy between lyme docs and rheum????

There are no such things as Lyme Doctors. Only trained Doctors who are lyme literate. My doctor is a rheumatoligist who is lyme literate and a ILADS member. Its important to know that it is their philosophy and not medical training that seperates them. if you want to know how to filter good from bad simply ask them if they are aware of the ILADS philosophy or are affiliatad. Ps..to answer your other question about testing...there is no way to determine what validates or invalidates a lyme test. The fact is they are inaccurate...not even close. The bottom line is how you feel and how you react to the drugs.
