Can lyme ever be totally cured? I am new to this and not even on treatment yet? But just reading some topics and comments I am curious if it can be cured completely or is it always there and you are always on antibiotics???????Jocelyn

I think some people can be cured. Some people have to be on maintenance antibiotics for life. Some people go into remission, but have to be treated at intervals on and off for years.

I think it all depends on how good your LLMD is, how well you follow the protocol your doctor prescribes for you, your attitude, and also genetic factors.

I do think people get cured of this disease. I think many, many, many get well.

I have had Lyme for over 35 years. I got really bad about 7 years ago to the point of being disabled. I have now been off abx since Sept. 2008. I used alternative treatments when I stopped abx to get to 100%, which I reached in Aug. of last year.

So, yes, you can get well. I am told it is called remission, though I'm living now like I never had Lyme.

You'll get a lot of different opinions on this question.

More important is that you get tested for Lyme disease by a Lyme Literate MD (LLMD). If he/she determines you have Lyme disease you want to get treated immediately.

The sooner you get treated, the better your chances are of beating this disease. Call it a cure, healing, remission or whatever you want, but act fast and you'll save yourself years of suffering.

Welcome to Lymenet!

Cured? No. But ur never cured from The measles either. Doesn't mean you have symptoms any longer.

You can surely live with no Lyme symptoms to. I do. I was very ill at one time. As ill as anyone on this or any other board for that matter. That is a fact! Lyme/Babesia (IGenix FISH Babs positive with 5 bands of Lyme making me even CDC positive) But I don't even really think about it any longer.

Took 1 year for me. No more ABX either. GL
