I have been told I have lyme. Not confirmed yet and have had no treatment yet but working on seeing a doc. My question is according to Igenex my lyme has been around awhile and my son who is 6 has been complaining of headaches for the last year. I took him for an MRI which was normal and he doesn't need glasses. I was wondering if during my pregnancy I can pass some tick bacteria to the fetus. Should I have him checked out with the lyme doc I decide on, or how would I go about it? Thanks, Jocelyn

Definately get him checked with a Lyme Dr.
All three of my kids have Lyme. The younger two don't even know what a tick looks like. My husband got symptoms a couple years ago. My LLMD is certain it is sexually transmitted and congenital.
We didn't realize that our youngest had Lyme.. and he was 4 with ADHD, ODD, and fibromyalgia. Last year started mild muscle twitching and it finally hit me "oh my Gosh, I wonder if he has Lyme!" His tests were CDC +. He is 6 now and started treatment a few months ago. Already seeing improvement and fibromyalgia is gone. My 9 yr old daughter had nystagmus, chills, muscle jerking. Yep.. Lyme.
My 16 yr old lit up the chart with all her positive bands, but she had tick exposure when we lived in TN and a history of all over body rash that 20 + doctors could not figure out.
Identical twin also has Lyme.. it's possible that WE were born with it.
My best friend's son was treated for migraines since age 5! Turns out he has LD. And now she thinks her other three boys have it too.. one diagnosed with ADHD, one with Aspergers, and one with Autism.
So yes.. get him checked by an LLMD.

Could be Lyme or co's, but it's hard to know without the child being evaluated by an LLMD or tested through a lab like Igenex.
There is a "Children's Edition" of a Lyme magazine that you can order online that has lots of info on Lyme manifestations in children. I would recommend it for you. I think it's a $10 donation.
Go to: http://www.lymedisease.org. It's the issue on the bottom of the screen, third from the left, with the blue cover. Click on it to order.
The earlier in life you treat children, the more successful their treatment seems to go. By the time they are teenagers or by the time they get to their late teens, it is much more difficult from what I hear.
So you would be wise to check out the possibility now. I hope he doesn't have Lyme, but if he does, hope you are able to get good treatment! Best of luck.

Definitely get him evaluated by GOOD Lyme doc!! Lyme is transmitted during pregnancy.

yep...get a good LLMD and get him tested. I was on treatment with my son the entire pregnancy. He tested negative at birth but that means little in my book. I know many Moms whose kids were negative at birth and tested positive later. Could be passed through the birth canal during delivery like many bacterial infection can.
My LLMD was wonderful and treated my son for 6 weeks with abx when he was 7 weeks old just to be safe. I have never regretted that decision and we are due to have him tested this summer to see where we are.
The sooner they get treatment, the better the outcome. And don't forget about co infections too, they are all passed in utero.
