Long time no post.

Question for folks who've been on Factive or other Fluoroquinolones. I'm about to start taking Factive combined with 500mg twice a day of Tindamax. I've been on Tindamax before but not Factive or any other Fluoroquinolones.

My doc wants me to take 1 320mg tablet every day. I'm thinking of easing into it. Perhaps take one every other day for five days and then get up to an every day regiment.

Any thoughts on whether or not this is a good or bad idea?

Should I instead dive right in and start taking in once a day?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Also, anyone have photosensitivity problems while on Factive?

Thanks!!!

Starch.

I took Factive and started at full dose right away. I was also already taking malarone and tindimax. Factive did not bother me.
Take care

I also took it starting 1 pill a day.

I did a week on/week off schedule, per my LLMD. It was successful in my case, so I was then instructed to take it for 30 days straight, which I did with even more improvement.

I did Herx from it, but not too strongly so it was ok. Tindamax was too much for me at first, but I've tried it again since and am more able to tolerate it.

Good luck!

On the subject of Factive - are you taking the brand or generic equivalent? Does it make any difference?

I don't think that there is a generic for Factive available here in the USA. I have seen the generic advertised on foreign pharmacy websites though.

Thanks everyone. FYI I believe there is no generic factive in the us. I'm on the brand name stuff. Anyone else have thoughts on phasing in factive?

Sorry, I just realized that I didn't answer your original question.

I started off pulsing Factive 5days on 5days off. Took the full dose from day one. I did not have a problem starting Factive. In fact, I felt better on Factive and worse on the 5days off. My doctor had me stop pulsing it and now I take it daily.

Good luck [Smile]
