This is all new to me. If I received a positive test from Labcorp do I still need to get a test done through Igenex?
Thanks, Mandi

No, actually LD is a "clinical" diagnosis and the test are just used to back up that diagnosis. If you got a positive from Labcorp, then you have LD.

My test from LabCorp was positive for Lyme as well so I did not need to have one from Igenex.
However, it is still important to find a Lyme Literate doctor (LLMD) to have testing done for other pathogens (called co-infections) that a tick transmits. An LLMD can be found by going under the Seeking a Doctor section if you have not done so already.
Best wishes.

Is it rare to get a positive test?

Well, I'll be darn. All the bad mouthing I've done on Labcorp not knowing lyme anti-bodies if it bite them in the butt. Shame on me.
Good for you. Not good that you have lyme anti-bodies, just good that you have a test result that some doc can't ignore.
Find a LLMD, for sure.

I have seen a LLMD. Am I allowed to say Dr. W in Texas. Is that how I am supposed to put it? I have prescriptions for antibiotics but, I have not started them yet.

Mine was also positive from LabCorp, but I was told to get the Igenix anyways.

I also have antibodies for something called Q fever. They seem to be more worried about this than the lyme for now. My husband had 1 positive band from Labcorp. My LLMD in Tx considered this a negative result. It seems to me that if you have any positive it should be treated.

Metallic, yes a false positive. It has to be! Thats why I'm so ill; but then again it must be all in my head! Ha!
Abbriggs, this is why I always repeat it is a "clinical" diagnosis and has to be made by a LLMD. The test are not at all acurrate. Yes if your husband has one band and has symptoms of LD, then he should be treated in my opinion.

It's funny (disturbing), because when it's negative, they "swear" up and down that it's absolutely never, ever, Lyme disease, but if it's positive, it's a false positive.
Twisted logic.....

My husband showed igG41 positive and IgM41 positive. He is the spitting image of health. His only health issue is that he gets migraines.
Me, I have tremors, numbness, tingling, pins & needles, BP problems, heart rhythm disturbances and bone crushing fatigue. Sometimes my whole body seems like it is vibrating.
Apparently with the Q-fever that I am positive for the CDC recommends up to 4 years of antibiotics.

I tested positive at labcorp last Dec. The doctor actually did say that it could be a false positive. After two weeks on doxy I am cured. The swollen lymph node in my neck that is painful and the ringing in my ears have nothing to do with lymes I was told. Just had my second bloodtest today. Wonder what will happen

abbriggs, do you know how long you've had Lyme disease? Do you recall getting bit by a tick? What abx does Dr. W have you on to start with?
I don't know exactly. I grew up hunting, fishing, and spending most of my time out in the Texas Hill country. I have found so many ticks on me that I could not keep count.
When I got pregnant with my daughter 3 years ago is when I got really sick. It started with POTS then developed into Neuro. Heart and Neuro are my main symptoms. The worst thing is bone crushing fatigue.
I was always so healthy and active. It is like I have done a complete 360. I don't hardly recognize the person in the mirror any more.

Mandi,
I know what you are talking about, as do hundreds of others here who have experienced the very same thing. It changed me completely and it hurt me to see how my family was hurting watching me suffer and becoming someone they didn't know.
I used to be a fun and outgoing person but after getting this disease everything changed. It's a horrible disease to suffer with and sadly hardly anyone in the medical field takes this illness seriously even though it's become an epidemic here in America.
Praying things get better for you!
By the way, if you read my thread "Hansa Center Update" you would have noticed I mentioned a product called Neuro-Toxin ll. It can work very well at removing toxins from your body and especially help with the neuro stuff. I had constant heart palpitations, pressure in by brain and stuff like that.
Found out I had ammonia in my heart, liver and brain. This Neuro-Toxin ll took care of it within a month. I no longer have heart palpitations or brain pressure since taking this. They have four formulas, I took the Cardio formula because that's the one I tested high for. If you can't get tested for it just read the different formulas and pick out the one the closest fits your symptoms.
I can't promise it will resolve your neuro issues but it sure helped mine.
Yes I get horrible pressure in my head. Constantly trying to click my ears to make it go away. It feels like I am changing altitude just sitting or laying still.

I got POSITIVE Lyme test from Qwest, positive Q-fever, positive Mycoplasma. Babesia came back positive after 2 months of abx for babesia
My primary care MD was smart to test me for Lyme during initial onset of symptoms in august 2008.
Two weeks after, infectious disease MD tested me for Lyme again and it came back NEGATIVE, she doubted I had Lyme At this point I knew everything about Lyme controversy and quickly found another ID doctor who started me on IV Rocephin. In the mean time I found LLMD who took over IV treatment form ID doctor.
In 2002 I was tested for Lyme after I developed unspecific rash on my legs.It came back NEGATIVE.
So I have been infected for 6 years at least.Suffered form migranes, fatigue, and for 6 months before final crush I was developing MS symptoms.
I think your best bet is to find GOOD LLMD.
