Last night I was given my bicillin shot and now today I have a knot where it was given. I am betting it is probably the medicine just staying there but what should I do about it? The area is pretty sore

Do some exercise involving the muscles in the buttox, like strenuous walking or running right after you do the injection. Do not just go to bed afterward.
Massage the area, apply heat. Do not inject in that spot again until the medication has dispursed.
There was a recent thread where one person had the medicine just sit there. She got a lot of good advice on how to disperse it. This is what I remember. I'll see if I can find the thread for you.

Walking strenuously, applying heat, and massage are all good techniques, but even with those things, I find that sometimes knots do still form, but they go away within a week I'd say.
Sometimes the lumps are painful. Sometimes I'll have a couple painful ones in a row, and then go awhile without any painful ones.
I consider that normal, as long as they seem to eventually die down, like within 5-7 days. If they are just accumulating or forming a mega-lump, that is bad.
So if they go away, don't stress too much that they happen, but DO do everything you can to prevent them, like the heat/walking/massage right after each shot. (remember, I'm not a doctor, this is just my experience)
I have had some lumps that were so painful that it hurt to sit on that side of my butt and hurt to lay on my side, but they did get better within a couple days.
Be sure it's being injected slowly. Also, I think that exhaling right before the needle goes in helps, because that prevents you from tensing up your muscle as the needle goes in. The "looser" I am during, the better, it seems.

I once got a shot at the doctors office and it did the same thing. I remember that I was ill, but can't remember what I had.
Anyway, the bump stayed for almost a week, then one day I accidently leaned back really hard against the kitchen counter and hit the bump. It busted at that point, and hurt really bad. In a couple of days I was well.
I hope you have good luck getting it to go down!

I often get a bump but it goes away eventually. Our doc showed my husband how to use a spiral pattern of injections to be sure that a different spot is hit each time. It works very well. Bringing the Bicillin to room temp helps, too.

I'm the weirdo with the giant blob of bicillin that formed in her hip. I feel bad about posting that now because I think I have scared people to the point where they think completely normal things are a problem
Don't worry, yours sounds normal. Note that this did not happen to me in just one injection. I would get the hard scar tissue lumps or small medicine lumps, even at the very beginning. I think this is very normal and have heard of it many many times on this board. Remember that you are sticking a 1.5" needle into your muscle, so there is bound to be some natural swelling. In fact, I get them in my legs sometimes now with claforan injections and I do not worry at all about it.
What happened to me was very rare and also very different than just a small lump. It was about the size of a tennis ball or maybe even larger. I really don't think it's anything anyone else should worry about.
Bicillin was very helpful to me, and I would do it all again if I had to, in spite of everything.

Make sure the needle you are using is long enough 1.5 inches and you literally "bury" into the muscle (as my llmd says) the needle when injecting.
Then heat on it, a warm shower a heating pad and even walking will get it moving.

Thank you everyone, it has gone down some today and I seem to be herxing more so I guess I am getting the medicine now.
