I've been homebound for more than 3.5 years. I have LD for at least 5 years. My brain is so bad. I cannot do easy things. I'm only 32 and I want to get my life back.
I started to take ABs half year ago and nothing helps me. I still have all my symptoms... bad hot flashes, weakness, head and eye pressure, fever, all body numbness, extreme anxiety......and many other symptoms.
I just would like to know is there anybody who had very bad brain symptoms 24/7 for years before tratment but recovered?

I had very bad cognitive symptoms. I did not have typical bartonella symptoms, but my cognitive stuff and digestive symptoms ended up coming from bartonella. Levaquin was a miracle drug for me. Cleared my head.
I am completely well from Lyme now. You can recover.

I had very bad brain symptoms from the encephalopathy.
Absolutely zero memory and always feeling like going into coma and difficulty with nearly everything.
Was diagnosed very late.
I am not a hundred percent back but I am doing a million times better and yes, it took years. Two of them managing with babesia and antibiotic treatment as best I could tolerate.

It sounds more like bart symptoms than borrellia. Maybe you need to change meds. Bactrim DS has been very effective against my bart and cleared up my mind significantly in just a month. I take it with biaxin but zithro is good too. Rifampin is good for some people. Levaquin is very powerful against bart but you have to be careful of side effects.
Some doctors only treat the borrellia but I believe it is important to attack the co-infections at the same time, or at least soon afterward. Biaxin attacks the intercellular form of lyme. You could also pulse tindamax for the cyst form of lyme and it will also help treat bart.
Bactrim DS literally gave me my mind back. I feel SOOO MUCH BETTER.

i know exactly how u feel. i was undiagnosed nearly 8 months.. it began with bad brain symptoms.. very bad memory.. i couldnt concentrate anymore.. not a little bit, anorexia.. i didnt know what was goin on there.. after 8 months of several docs i found a llmd and started treatment.. like i said... my body symptoms wasnt that bad.. but my head was my worst symptom.
i started treatment exactly 1 year ago.. different abx... actually im on rifampicin and bactrim ds and artemisin.
when i remember myself 1 year ago.. i could start cryin'.. because i was so bad.. so bad that i just wanted to kill myself. now after 1 year im a lot better.. the brain function is slooowly improving.. i have a new job.. i do my exams in university which i couldnt pass last year etc. my llmd said that brain recovery is a slow and steady process... if you were such a long time sick you have to go through this lyme hell to get better.. i know its hard .. everybody here knows it.. but remember that you have only 1 life to live and its in your hands to rip off the sh!t out of your body.
try to relax a little bit, lay down if u feel crappy.. i think u need 1 - 2 years to get a big step forward in healthy.
wish u all the best take care.
