We have a far infrared sauna and use it for metal detox and environmental toxins. I do not know about ozone saunas though. We were told by our doctors to use it everyday as we were tested for both heavy metals and environmental toxins and have both. I do believe it helps with both at least for us. We use it about 40 minutes and it goes up to 140. This is our experience.

I tried off an on for almost a year to utilize this to detox, but I ended up "herxing" really bad from which it would take me days of sleep to recover every time I tried.
There are many it does help, and if you feel it is helping you, then it is a wonderful way to detox.
I think in the beginning of all this, I was a toxic waste site, and the infrared without support liberated to many toxins and I ended up sicker then when I went in. I remember when I first started, I didn't sweat. It took about two weeks in order for me to start sweating, and then when I did go, I couldn't recover.
The experience was enough for me to still to this day, shy away from trying it again. Perhaps someday.

Thanks guys. Wow, with the amount I sweat in that thing, I can't imagine going every day. It would be nice to have my own one day though. I hope once a week is enough, although I may try to go more often.
Lauirel, I understand. I do herx afterwards, but have been on abx for quite some time now, so I think it's getting more toxins out than it's producing for me. Maybe you can try again after treating for a while.
I'm just not sure of the most effective ways to detox so was hoping this was one of them. I really want to clean my system out and get my immune system going. I have been using herbs all this time, but they weren't strong enough, I don't think. I am scared of the coffee enemas (or any enema) that people are using though, and don't know how to get IV glutathione or anything like that.

VB, This is my second post to you in a few minutes. Funny I never post. Anyways I have a FIR and use it a few times a week. If I use it too often I get too weak but I would definitely use it everyday if I could. I was told only to stay in 30 minutes but if you can last longer good on you. Just drink lots of water. Really helps w/detox. Joan

Be very careful with metal and chemical detox. If timing is wrong, you move metals into the brain instead of bringing them out. It is a tricky process. If you as many are allergic to the chemicals and metals, and the immune system does not recognize them as toxins, things are worse.
We did infrared sauna very late in the detox phase, and only now after Allergie Immun therapy are finally getting rid of all. Just want to warn you!!
As far as infections go, with such heat, we would be dead before spirochetes.
Have not done ozone/sauna, but assume that the dysregulations/allergies would be in the way also.
When the nasty stuff is gone and allergies eliminated, we enjoy ours. I do, my husband simply does not like heat.
Good luck.

I worked in a dealers store + had almost unlimited access.
Didn't sweat for five years after a stroke. After 2nd sauna began to sweat again. Used to sweat a lot before the stroke.
About 3 times per week seemed to work best.
I preferred the Sunlight Solo, which you lie down in. Sometimes I would fall asleep.
30 to 40 minutes seemed to be best after I got used to it.
Too hot was not good. When I cranked it up I actually sweated less.
I always showered immediately after. Was told that toxins would go back into the body if one did not shower.
Made me feel more human + alive
I felt lots of my toxicity was from lots of dental fillings as a kid in the 1950s + 1960s and from working with metals in a very close environment for 10 years.

For what it's worth, those of you that have herxed from it, a very good friend of mine that had Lyme and is now in remission told me...
The heat draws out the spirochetes from where they are hiding and forces them into the blood stream. Here they are more volunerable to the antibiotic/herbal treatments that we have in place. This is why we herx after sauna/hot baths.
So, instead of feeling great after the sauna like you would expect (ridding the body of toxins) we feel terrible because now we have new toxins...dead ketes.
She also recommended to me that I get in the hottest bath I could stand, 20 or so minutes after I take my ORAL (only, not IV) abx. The heat would draw out the ketes and they would then run straight into my abx that were in my blood stream. I have done this a few times and felt TERRIBLE afterwards. I even have my daughter sit with me in the tub because my friend did tell me that the toxin overload could be so substantial that I could pass out.
Just thought I would share...

Thanks all! I appreciate hearing of everyone's experiences.
bncrump, that is good information. I have read about "artificial fevers" and understand that higher temps can actually weaken or kill bacteria. I too have taken VERY hot baths and gotten my body temp up to 101 for 20 minutes, then felt absolutely terrible the following day. Huge herx, I believe, as symptoms would intensify greatly, esp muscle twitching. Your post confirmed my belief that I should take abx prior to doing this so that the bacteria comes out of hiding and is in a weakened state.
I wonder if it would even kill bacteria that are hidden in biofilms? I would expect so, and that even biofilms couldn't protect the bacteria from heat.
I suppose I should do the baths as often as I can although I prefer the sauna because the herx seems to be milder, and the sweating/detoxing greater. But baths are more easily accessible for me.
Just wish I could have my own FIR sauna, but I live in an apartment so don't think I could have one until I have a house big enough for it and with enough of a power supply.
Anyway, thanks again everyone.

VB a one person sauna is only 3 feet by 3 feet and plugs into a regular outlet.
If money wasn't too much of an issue it would be a fantastic investment in your health IMO
I wish I had bought one at the time of my diagnosis...I think I would of experienced alot less suffering

Oh wow, that's good to know. Does a regular outlet give off enough energy to get the temp high enough? Do you have any recommendations on a good type to buy? How much do they run?

The one person, plain Jane model is $2550 plus shipping and taxes.
I like how it looks.....like a Japanese tatami room. I've been using it once a week at a masssage center. It has the carbon flow heaters that distribute heat evenly.Of a few different models I've tried, in this one I've had the best effect in......meaning I've prespired the most.
Also do a search....there is a girl named Elanie that was really happy with her sauna , I don't recall the brand but I remember she liked the carbon flow heaters.

Love my infrared sauna. Some LLMds (including mine) are highly recommending them. Helps with relaxation and pain.
