I was diagnosed with Lyme and babesia in October 2009. I have been on antibiotic treatment protocol for 6 months now. Although I do feel somewhat better, I'm not 100% yet. I have a wonderful LLMD who has changed antibiotic regiment a few times to focus on babesia.
I was on vacation last week and I received a message from my LLMD office explaining that my liver enzymes were elevated and they needed to take another blood test.
What is the next protocol after elevated liver enzymes? Do LLMD usually take you off of antibiotics? Is there anything I can do in the meantime to help myself?
I haven't spoke to my LLMD yet, the office assistant said they just need me to get another blood test. Can somebody explain this to me please?

I should also add that I was on a cruise last week. And the last few days I've been extremely dizzy/or off balance. I think it's because of the cruise. I don't know though, I've never been on a cruise before. Plus, I got a HORRIBLE head cold while on was on the cruise. I'm still recovering.

Have you tried using milk thistle for support of your liver?
Vacation, cruise.....sounds wonderful! Hope you had a good time despite the news and woozy and cold!

My LLMD said that milk thistle can make tindamax not as affective. I mentioned this to him at my last appointment. And he just started me on hydrocortisone. I only take 2.5 mg two times a day. He wants me to up it to 5 mg twice a day. But I haven't done so yet.
He also started my on 150mg Doryx 2 x times a day. But he told me to start it when I got back from my trip. I haven't started it yet because I want to know what is going on with my liver.

Every doctor usually has their own preferences for handling elevated liver enzymes. It will depend somewhat on how high they are. If they were alarmed they would have told you to go off everything immediately.
If you are feeling worse please call your doctor and let them know. The dizzy off balance feeling happended to me when my liver enzymes were elevated. Mine were very high at the time. I don't know if your symptoms are related to your liver enzymes but your doctor will want to know of any new symptoms.

My physician recommended Dr. Zhang's Hepa#2, and Milk Thistle. My numbers were perfect.

I've seen milk thistle listed on some Aids sites as interfering with mepron. If it interferes with mepron, it will interfere with malarone as well.
