Okay, so I talked on the phone to someone from McGuff compounding.

I was like, "is there aluminum in your shots with preservatives?"

He was like, "you are probably thinking about the thimerisol in vaccines."

I was thinking, no dummy....on the inactive ingredients for many B12 shots, it lists aluminum _____ (some word following aluminum that I can't recall). So it is obviously ADDED to the shots.

And I was like, "no, aluminum...is it used as a preservative. That's what my LLMD wants to avoid."

And he was like, "Well, there is aluminum everywhere...it's in the air, etc. So some will make it's way into the shots."

HUH??? Okay, if it's in the air, i'm obviously not including that as an "additive." I'm asking if they ADD aluminum. He was very vague with me, saying trace amounts might be in there. Well, do they add it or not? I didn't have the energy to argue, so I just said, "okay."

He said they either use methyl paraben or benzyl alocohol as the preservative...these B12 shots have the benzyl alcohol. Is that okay? Is that something I wounldn't want to be injecting myself with?

Can anyone clarify this for me? I am so confused...too tired to type up my specific questions. Just wanting someone to make this CLEAR.

Sorry, just annoyed right now. This is becoming a huge disaster, I've gone weeks without my B12 shots....it's killing me. I would love a B12 shot right now, but no one can get their act together to get the darn things ordered, in the right dose, in the right way.

I just looked it up online, and yes...many B12 shots have added aluminum.

How did this person, who works at a pharmacy, not know that???? UGH.

Anyways.....does anyone know what's the deal with McGuff's B12 shots? Do the regular ones have aluminum?

You guys are probably more knowledgable than that dumb___. I seriously don't have the energy to be on the phone with them again, so I'm asking here.

I should add that they weren't rude at all, so I'm not saying don't use McGuff...I'm just not appreciating him thinking I'm dumb and confusing aluminum with thimersol when he's the one who's ignorant.

Interesting post. I had a B-12 shot last spring and I felt awful. Right after the shot, I was shaky, nervous and had trouble sleeping. I will not do a B-12 shot again.

I take Methylcobalamin a form of B-12 in an IM injection once a day. Mine has preseratives but not aluminum. Sodium chloride and Benzyl Alcohol added to the Methycobalamin.
