ok, here we go.
i had appt at 10 this morning. take meds and all, fill out paperwork.
do stress test. my bp was good, except heart rate was high.
then he discussed meds and i said "well i'm taking the diovan 160 and nadolol 10 mg."
he looked at me said "10 mg?" and i said yep, that's what my doc gave me and he said "how long have you been doing this" and i said "oh for years, since i started".
so he says "well no wonder you've got problems. your MEDICINE IS ALL WRONG. YOU SHOULD BE TAKING AT LEAST A MINIMUM OF 20 AND UP TO 40 MG OF NADOLOL NOT 10. 10 ISN'T DOING ANYTHING."
so he gave me nitro for the chest pain, and increased my nadolol up to 20. and said if my heart rate doesn't go down i can go up to a pill and a half.
he said fine to go to mexico.
also i have to go back to have a sonagram of my heart and he's going to recheck my meds.
he said my ekg of my stress test was absolutely normal, although the rate was high. he thinks the night episodes could be what he called "night terrors" because mike (oh yeah, great husband support, tells him i am a classic type a worrier).
i'm thinking it could be the lyme, right?
i know guys, but i didn't mention it. i just couldn't, cause mike would have exploded and i bet dollars to donuts this doctor doesn't believe in it.
but hey he did say my bp meds were wrong.
hopefully this will slow down the fast heart rate and i'll feel better.
hope, hope....

Slowing down the heart rate may make your symptoms a little better, but I don't experience any dramatic relief.
My heart doctor says he thinks Lyme causing my heart to beat fast and Lyme causing my scary arrhythmias (not dangerous according to him). Before I was diangosed with Lyme and after I went to the endocrinologist, both my endocrinologist and cardiologist thought it must be some strange bacterial or fungal infection messing with the heart and nervous system.
9 months later, CDC+ for Lyme and positive antibodies.
I really wish it was anything else but Lyme. We've looked under so many stones for anything else.
And tell your husband that Lyme causes the worrying. It's not your fault. It messes majorly with your CNS. I am a male, and was never a worrier until I had that mysterious infection in my pelvic area that seemed to clear itself in a few weeks.

I was having heart problems too. I would get very out of control beating and palpitations. My heart rate would spike up really high for no reason. It was decided that my mitral valve was floppy. This would not cause any major issues, but i would have to deal with the erratic heart beats. A year later, I started treatment for Lyme Disease...this was for different reasons. Since the treatment though, I have had NO issues with my heart. Not a coincidence in my oppinion.

I'm on 50mg of Toprol for my tachycardia (fast heart rate). I HAVE to be. I don't know what I'd do without controlling the tachycardia. :-\
